Crystals 101: Your Guide to Everything Crystals!

The crystal trend is here to stay, and whether you want to test out the healing and good fortune properties, or simply add a little something extra to your decor, we’ve got you covered with our easy tips for to how to incorporate crystals into your life! Read on for your simple guide to everything you need to know about crystals!

The Basics: Crystals were originally thought to have healing, energy, and health benefits by ancient cultures such as the Mayans and Egyptians. They made crystals into jewelry and even incorporated them into buildings and architecture in an attempt to harness their power. This ancient practice had been pretty much forgotten until the recent resurgence of crystal awareness. Here are a few ways you can get in on the trend and incorporate crystals into your day-to-day life!

Do a Crystal Grid: First, set an intention (a crush perhaps? maybe a raise at work?), then lay out specific types of crystals and stones in a predetermined pattern. These patterns are designed to receive and transmit energy. Check out this article from Energy Muse that breaks down the step-by-step process of building a crystal grid!

Wear Crystal Jewelry: Why not check out a local rock shop and pick out a cute crystal ring or necklace to spice up your accessory game? Wearing crystals is said to balance energy, (try pink quartz to attract love) and everyone will be dying to know where you got your unique piece!

Place Crystals on your Body for Healing: This ancient practice is making a comeback! A quick search for crystal body layouts will give you different examples of which stones to use and where to place them. For example, blue lace agate is said to be good for stress. Another option is to try placing your favorite crystal on you while meditating.

How Does Crystal Healing Work? If you’re still feeling skeptical, you’re probably thinking, “Sure, crystals are fun to look at, but can they really cure a headache, or help me find love?” Here’s the thinking behind it: everything is made up of energy, including crystals that come from the earth, so crystals have the ability to absorb negative energy or put out positive energy based on your needs. (More on this from Huffington Post here.) Like we said, believer or nonbeliever, surrounding yourself with pretty crystals couldn’t hurt, so why not give it a shot?! Try gathering all your girlfriends to trade gems or do a crystal grid for a fun and unique experience that’s different than your average brunch or happy hour!

Our Top Picks: Ready to start your collection? Some of the crystals we love are lepidolite, known as “the peacemaker” is great for calming anxiety, selenite for cleansing and purifying, and black tourmaline, like a security blanket, is for protection and positive energy. Crystal Age has a great crystal guide with plenty of visuals and info to help you get started.

5 ways to try crystal healing with kids

Keep the little ones amused this summer holiday with the power of Ashley Leavy’s gemstone therapy

Teaching kids about crystal energy can nurture their connection with crystal energy, but how can you explain some of the difficult concepts of healing and energy to a young mind? Below are some simple ways to explain crystal healing to the children in your life, encouraging their minds to grow spiritually. They’ll be so much calmer and more tuned in after these activities, you won’t even recognise them – and so will you!

1 Feel the amplification

Sit where you are right now and think about things that make you happy. Now, pick up your crystal and think about your happy thought again. Do you feel even happier when you’re holding the crystal? This is because the crystal is amplifying your happy feeling!

2 Charge yourself up

Crystals can hold energy for us to use later on when we need it. This stored energy will stay inside of the crystal until you want to use it. Place your crystal on your windowsill where it will be in the light from the moon or the sun. Leave the crystal there to charge. The next day, pick up the crystal and see if you can feel the energy it has stored from the sun or the moon. How do you feel? Can you feel the energy the crystal has shared with you?

3 Transfer energy to others

Hold a Quartz crystal point on your forehead with the point sticking straight out from your body like a unicorn horn. Think about love and joy and fill your heart with happy thoughts. Try to send these thoughts to someone near you and see if they can feel them!

4 Listen to your crystals’ stories

Hold your crystal in your hands. Where do you feel the energy in your body? Do you feel hot or cold? Do you feel calm? Or happy? Now hold your crystal up to your forehead. Imagine that the crystal is telling you a story. What do you see and hear? How does the crystal make you feel?

5 Meditate

Hold your crystal in your hands or over your heart. Imagine your crystal growing bigger and bigger until it is as big as a house. Imagine a tiny doorway that you crawl through until you are inside of your crystal house.
Look around at the inside of your crystal. What do you see? What colour is your crystal house? Imagine feeling the floor and the walls. How do they feel? Listen very carefully. What do you hear inside of your crystal? Do you hear any sounds at all? Do you hear your favourite music? What does your crystal house smell like? Does it smell like flowers or freshly-baked cookies? Imagine a big comfy chair inside of your crystal house. Sit on the chair and have some quiet time inside of your crystal house. Feel the peaceful energy all around you. The longer you sit inside of your crystal, the happier you become. When you are very calm and happy, imagine crawling back through the door of your crystal house and back into where you are sitting right now.

The range of crystals that can be used for healing is huge but when it comes to conditions such as anxiety and stress there are some that are more preferred than others. So if you are shopping for stones to help you with these conditions you might want to check out some of the ones below.

Amethyst is one of the crystals that are known to be able to help with a wide variety of conditions. For anxiety issues and relaxing this is one of the most popular. This is known to be the Master Healer and it has a calming effect on the body and mind, plus it is one of the better looking crystals for placing around the home.

Aquamarine the Calming Stone

Aquamarine is a lovely looking crystal that can help with issues related to anxiety and panic attacks. This is well known for being able to help the person to relax and calm along with quieting the mind. Aquamarine is known for its properties of helping to lower the levels of stress.

Clear Quartz crystal may be able to help people to manage anxiety as it has properties of dispelling negative thinking along with turning negative thoughts into more positive thoughts. This is one of the symptoms that people often complain about when suffering panic attacks.

Panic attacks can have a devastating effect on the life of a person and one of the crystals that many people associate with them is Moonstone. This stone helps to stop over reaction to situations and so it is often the choice of those who use crystals for healing panic and anxiety.

Smokey Quartz Alleviates Stress

Smokey Quartz is often used by people who use healing crystals as it is known for its properties related to being able to relieve stress that is associated with anxiety.

There are many ways that you can use any of the above crystals for easing anxiety and making your life less stressful. Typical ways include meditation and lighting a candle and allowing it to flicker on the crystal of your choice. You can use them for holding in the palm to help to reduce stress levels or you might want to sleep with them under your pillow to help bring down the levels of stress and anxiety.

There really isn’t any one way that works when using crystals for healing, so you might want to try various ways before settling on the one that is right for you.

There is a more unconventional way of healing and this is by using crystals. They have the power to help in many ways to improve your life.

Four Crystal Healing Treatments to Enhance Your Spa’s Menu

As further evidence that crystals are all the rage this year, such as being noted as one of our 2018 trends, The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Los Angeles is teaming up with House of Intuition, a local metaphysical shop, to debut three Crystal Clarity treatments and a Custom Clarity Package ($450, 80 minutes). The limited-time package features a consultation to select three crystals that will be integrated into a personalized Clarity Massage and gifted to the client and a House of Intuition gift box containing a selection of signature items, such as an intention candle, a smudge kit, raw crystals, beauty products, and a bath bomb. Relying on crystals, stones, essential oils, and other holistic ingredients, the following treatments, available through the summer, combine House of Intuition teachings with the spa’s pampering practices.

Rose Quartz Mani ($80, 50 minutes) and Pedi Treatment ($85, 50 minutes) indulge hands and feet with an aromatic soak infused with rose oils, Himalayan sea salt, and pieces of raw rose quartz. Feet are then exfoliated with a rose-quartz crystal scrub and misted with House of Intention Awaken Organic Spray to inspire the flow of harmony. The treatments conclude with a choice of polish.

The lounge at The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Los Angeles is ideal for relaxing after a crystal treatment.

Jade Facial Treatment ($260, 80 minutes) begins with a gentle exfoliation using a jade crystal scrub from House of Intention and continues with an age-defying massage with a jade facial roller. After an application of ESPA Skin Radiance Mask and a spritz of calming mist, the esthetician places three healing stones—amethyst, clear quartz, and moonstone—on the high points of the skin to promote mind-spirit balance.

Chakra Balancing Massage ($260, 80 minutes) features a relaxing massage before curated crystals are placed on each of the seven chakras. Designed to ease muscle tension, soothe the mind, and promote energy flow, the treatment, which incorporates an oil from ESPA, finishes with a citrus-infused spritz over the body to encourage wellbeing.

“Working with House of Intuition founders Marlene Vargas and Alex Naranjo, we created therapies that complement the two schools of healing belief,” says spa director Tamara Ische. “Crystal therapy offers another natural method to rebalance our mind and body, and we’re excited to explore the power of these tools in our pampering treatments.”

9 Ways to Do Your Own Crystal Healing

It’s easier now than ever before to get your hands on some beautiful crystals. But how do we work with them to consciously empower ourselves? From cleansing your crystals under moonlight to programming them with Reiki, there are many ways to harness their energy and do your own crystal healing.

Discover the rituals and tips that I use to tune into crystal energy…

1. Elevate your space

After cleansing your crystals in the moonlight, feel the pulse of the crystals and determine which crystals would go well on your desk, in your car and on your nightstand. Crystals help elevate and protect these spaces. Citrine is a great one to put on a desk as it helps you find motivation, will power, self-esteem and joy. Black obsidian, black tourmaline and amethyst work well in cars but tune in to see what the crystals have to say.

2. Selenite on your heart chakra

Selenite wands help me remember to call upon a strength beyond my own, divine love and light. The white color reminds me of white light. I like to place a selenite wand in the middle of my chest while breathing deep into my belly and expanding my diaphragm. Selenite crystals don’t need to be cleansed and cleared as they are very high in vibration, making it an ideal choice for daily healing.

3. To clear your aura

“Comb” your aura with a selenite wand, while asking the crystal to help you release and transmute any energies that aren’t serving the highest good of all. Observe where you are releasing. You might notice tingling, warmth, coolness or simply a movement of energy. If you’re a Reiki practitioner, feel free to chant one of the Reiki mantras while combing your aura.

4. To cut cords with anyone and anything that isn’t serving you

Selenite wands can also be used to help cut the cords of attachment to beings, situations, events, or feelings that aren’t serving your highest good. Comb a selenite wand through your aura, noticing where you feel dense energy. Comb through, while setting the intention to release, until your aura feels lighter.

5. To balance the vibration of your chakras

A night-time ritual that I go to often, is intuitively placing crystals on my chakra centers. I hold my hands over crystals and choose the ones that feel the most high-vibe or energetic. To me, that means that the crystal wants to work with me, and help heal a physical, mental, spiritual, emotional or energetic issue. I then place the crystal on its corresponding chakra. For example, I would place a black obsidian on my root chakra center if that is one the crystals that calls out to me.

6. To support your meditation experiences

I’ll often choose a crystal to hold during meditation to help clear my mind, and elevate the quality of my thoughts and emotions. In meditation, I like to work with rose quartz to help bring my thoughts back to love and amethyst to help open my higher chakras. Working with crystals during meditation is especially great if you’re seeking to raise your vibration.

7. As a touchstone – at the end of a long day…

At the end of a long day, I like to hold a crystal and know that piece of nature is grounding me and bringing me back to my true essence. I choose crystals intuitively and by that I mean, I pick up whichever crystal is calling out to my eyes. If a specific color, shape, or texture is fascinating you, take that as a call from the crystal! I also like to hover my hands over the crystals, “scanning” their energies to see which crystal is grabbing my attention.

8. To send distant Reiki

Crystals are a great way to send Reiki to someone who’s not physically present with you. I often use 7 crystals that correspond with the main chakra centers to send Reiki to my clients who may even be on another continent. The crystalline structure helps to magnify Reiki, and transport it. You don’t have to be an energy healer to send blessings through crystals. Simply cleanse a crystal, put your hands over the crystal and send your love to a person, situation or event.

9. To program with Reiki

Even though I don’t ask them to, my clients often bring their crystals to their in-person Reiki sessions. While sharing Reiki with my clients, I charge their crystals with the energy and the best intentions, so my clients can receive Reiki healing even after their session is over. Crystals are recordkeepers and can be programmed with Reiki to help us when we need it. If you’re seeing a Reiki practitioner, ask them to program your crystals. If not, visualize how you would like to feel in the next 3-6 months while holding your crystal. The crystal will now help you attract more of those feelings into your life.

These rituals and tips will empower you to do your own crystal healing.

  • Tap into your intuition, and set intentions with clarity.
  • The most important components to crystal healing are your consciousness and willingness to be guided by your intuition.
  • Allow for the crystals to raise your vibration and for them to transform your chakras.
  • Choose one ritual and practice for 21 consecutive days!

Mystic beauty: unpacking the crystal healing make-up trend

From perfumes supercharged with sacred stones to crystal healing manicures, we examine the latest trend of incorporating ancient pagan practices into modern beauty routines

While certain sceptics might dismiss crystals as hippy dippy nonsense, the metaphysical stones and their healing powers are no longer a new age niche reserved for tree-huggers. Mysticism has officially gone mainstream, and now that the beauty industry has jumped on the holistic bandwagon, spiritually-supercharged beauty is the new normal.

Recently, it feels that everyone and their mum has been touting the benefits of healing crystals, whose powers can allegedly cleanse negative energy, uplift your mood, nurture relationships and manifest your dreams. With promises like those, it’s no wonder we’re grinding, infusing and soaking our beauty routines in gemstones and minerals.

Between healing skincare and crystal laden make-up, there’s a wide range of products and treatments that have worked the occult into their formulas. Glossier’s Haloscope highlighters come in the shades “Topaz”, “Quartz” and “Moonstone”, all eponymous of the crystals they’re infused with, giving you that Kardashian glow while simultaneously providing you with internal enlightenment. Herbivore’s Pineapple and Gemstone mask is infused with Brazilian white tourmaline that promises to “illuminate and energise” your complexion. Walk into any Urban Outfitters and you can buy perfume “supercharged with sacred stones to channel inner strength, balance and luck.” Or if you’re looking for something more hands-on, L.A.-based celebrity nail stylist Mazz Hanna offers a Crystal Healing Manicure for £265. The list goes on.

Of course, it was only a matter of time before beauty brands started catering to a generation so obsessed with the esoteric. From meditation and tarot, to crystals and astrology, these hallmarks of the occult have become the pseudo-religion of the Instagram age. Although there is little to no scientific evidence of crystals’ healing powers, we’re prioritising faith over facts if it means finding serenity in a chaotic world, and it’s translating into our beauty and wellness routines too.

“Consumers are drawn to mystic beauty because they’re seeking a connection with something benevolent, like an external source of support that may help them cope with the constant hustle we find ourselves in, trying to keep up with modern life,” says Tama Driessen, healer and author of The Crystal Code, a modern guide to crystal healing. “The concept of products infused with crystals, charged by the moon or designed to associate with the zodiac makes them a convenient way to add some mystic energy into people’s daily routine when they might be too busy to do something else that might help them find some inner peace – such as meditation, practising yoga, going for a crystal healing treatment, having a massage.”

As more and more brands tap into this mysticism craze, it raises questions about the authenticity of their intentions. “It’s wonderful that spirituality is having such a powerful moment right now, and that the beauty industry is embracing spiritual practices,” says New York-based seeress and shaman Deborah Hanekamp (aka Mama Medicine). “That being said, we have to be a bit careful of spiritual materialism and thinking that there is something we need to buy to feel spiritual, rather than simply recognising that just through our ability to love ourselves, others, and the world we live in, we are already magnificently spiritual.”

Wicca and other pagan-based faiths are more than just a trend or marketing ploy, and while this surge of mystic grooming products may seem recent to many of us, their purported significance is not. Both brands and consumers shouldn’t be so quick to appropriate what is an ancient and sacred belief just because the amethyst you bought in a Shoreditch boutique looks good in your Instagram flatlay.

“The beauty industry, like any industry, needs newness to keep innovating. They will probably move onto something else when the hype dies down,” says Sushma Sagar, reiki healer and founder of The Calmery, a London energy healing practice. “But spirituality is here to stay, because it isn’t a bandwagon. People are craving connection and finding meaning in their lives, it’s a modern malaise because we aren’t taught to look within for our answers. The irony is that we shouldn’t be reliant on products for our own healing.”

While Sagar and Hanekamp believe this fresh new take on pagan practices can only make spirituality more accessible, we should remain weary of the beauty industry’s attempt at co-opting it. “Some people, including the beauty industry, are once again trying to claim something in order to make money,” says beauty and self care blogger Grace Victory. “It blows my mind that people can try to profit from something so natural and sacred. Discernment is an act we should practice, but even more so with corporate businesses and capitalism. Consumers are sucked into anything and everything if it is marketed right [and] advertising is geared towards promising women a way to ‘fix’ themselves. Sometimes these things are just the same shit, covered by incense.”

That said, Victory is all for incorporating crystals in beauty rituals, although there’s a caveat. “I use them in my ritual baths, to meditate with and to make elixirs with. But it’s all about your intention. Healing and getting closer to Spirit/God/Source/Universe is an act that transcends ‘beauty’, it is simply who we are. Crystals just amplify and help.”

Hanekamp explains that the best way to benefit from the grounding and calming properties of stones is to use them in their most natural form possible as massage tools. Take for example Jade facial rollers, one of Cult Beauty’s best selling products and a staple in Driessen’s beauty routine. “I don’t think crushed rose quartz does much for the skin, and I could see it blocking pores if too much is used,” Hanekamp explains. “That being said, I love the idea of putting the frequency of crystals into beauty products [and] letting crystals soak in the product on an auspicious date. Crystals ground and calm us and a relaxed look is a radiant one.”

If mystical skincare provides a feeling of ethereal escapism to counteract the cynicism of modern life, should that be something that’s encouraged? As Driessen herself concedes, “it raises awareness of mystical and spiritual practices and may act as a gateway for some people to seek a deeper connection that they wouldn’t have heard of otherwise…”

Crystal Healing, Crystal Therapy and Energy HealingPick the Brain

Healing Crystals used in Spiritual Healing, Holistic Healing, and Chakra Balancing

When people think of crystal healing, they usually visualize precious gemstones or mythical talismans being used by a New Age practitioner. Crystals and healing gemstones have fascinated humans for centuries because of their unique colors, complexities and their functional use for making tools and artifacts. They were mined as far back as Ancient Egypt and possibly earlier still. Crystals were used in the Great Pyramids and temples, and as talismans and amulets to ward off demons and to bring good luck and prosperity.

What Makes Crystal Healing So Special?

Healing crystals are solid, complex structures, formed deep underground and in mountainous caves. They are part of the strength of Nature, resonating with the energy and power of life. Crystals are formed from igneous or sedimentary rock. Igneous rock is formed when a volcano erupts and the molten lava mixes with dust and rock particles. After it cools and solidifies, it mixes with natural gases and minerals and creates crystal.

Sedimentary rock is formed when river water drags dust particles along in the current and out into the sea. When the dust particles settle on the seabed they form larger, solid rocks pieces and eventually develop into crystals.

So these naturally formed crystals for healing and crystal balls are both beautiful and mysterious. Although healing crystals from the same family share the same basic structure, they will each have different imperfections or inclusions which make each piece unique. Diamonds are a good example of this. The size of a diamond is measured by its carat weight. Different grades of diamond will reflect different colors or have different patterns on their surface. It is these patterns and colors which fascinate humans.

Diamonds are revered because of their physical strength, and this might be why they are symbolic as engagement rings, to represent a strong relationship between humans.

Crystal Therapy and Healing Stones

People are attracted to crystal healing stones for their beauty, their pretty colors and intricate patterns. It can be very calming to the mind just to stare at a crystal, to gaze at its structure and follow the patterns of its ‘veins.’ To hold a piece of healing quartz crystal against human skin or in a person’s hand can be soothing. The physical strength, weight and texture of the crystal are all believed to be part of the crystal healing process.

Crystals can be placed in a home or workspace to provide a calming focus and energy healing for people, offering crystal therapy. The Chinese believe that crystals bring orderliness and clarity into life and often use them to aid in Feng Shui.

Crystals have also been adapted for more practical purposes. They were used as tools in ancient times, especially obsidian, because it is strong and solid. In modern culture crystals have been adapted for use in technology, to aid laser cutting and as time movements in wrist watches (Quartz).

The Spiritual Healing Paradigm

The Spiritual Healing Paradigm is the practice of using crystals to channel, direct and amplify energy from the healer into the patient. A spiritual healer will use a collection of healing crystals to channel energy from spirit or from angels. Crystal pendulums are popular for this purpose, particularly healing quartz and amethyst for their general cleansing abilities. The healing stones will clarify and amplify the vibrational healing needed at that time.

North American Indian healers use quartz crystal to diagnose and then remove a problem in a person’s body or mind. Again healing quartz is a popular stone because of its energy and its ability to channel and amplify the necessary healing. It is universal and versatile. The Spiritual Healing Paradigm is very much about believing in spirit and angel energies and allowing them to aid in the healing process.

The Resonance Placement Paradigm

The Resonance Placement Paradigm does not require a belief in the world of spirit. It relies on the power of the crystals alone, and the healing intuition of the practitioner. A variety of healing crystals might be used, and they would be chosen for their perceived individual healing qualities. They would then be combined to increase their power and energy to aid in the healing process.

Sometimes a particular crystal might resonate with a patient so the healer will choose to work solely with that one. The healer could then use a collection of the same crystals, or just work with one larger or specially shaped gemstone. The crystals would be placed on or around the human body in a specific format to correspond with the areas that need healing. The color, shape and composition of crystals are believed to create an energy vibration that encourages the natural healing process.

This practice is linked with the idea of carrying crystals as talismans or good luck charms. India’s Ayurvedic tradition has a history of using crystals and gemstones for similar purposes. Crystals have captivated humans for many thousands of years and there is so much potential in what they can offer for healing and mental and spiritual wellbeing.

The Art of Crystal Healing by Renee Starr

Crystals, gemstones, and many types of stones are potent sources of subtle energy that can be used to support healing on many levels, such as emotional, physical, and spiritual. There are many reasons why crystals are so powerfully effective in this way, and one of these reasons is that crystals can conduct, and emit electricity.

Science has known for quite some time that some crystals, such as quartz, are able to hold onto, and send out electrical energy, and we see this ability utilized in quartz timepieces, and with computer, and laser technology. This electrical ability of quartz is called piezoelectricity, which means that under stress, or pressure, quartz will expand slightly and then contract just enough to create a mild electrical charge. As humans, and animals are electrical beings: the heart and brain use electricity for healthy functioning, a crystal’s electrical nature can affect our own on a very subtle level, and this affect is the basis of crystal healing.

Crystals can be technologically programmed, and then used to conduct electrical energy, such as with a computer processor, which is made with a type of crystal called silicon, and so we can also use crystals to program, and direct energy for healing. It is thought that during a crystal healing session, universal, or cosmic energy is channeled through the healer, and then magnified, and directed through crystals placed on and/or around the client’s body. This crystal placement can be random, intuitive, or designed, and acts as a grid for energy to flow into, and out of the body.

For centuries, we have been associated certain crystals with unique healing properties to help deal with specific health issues, to help support physical, and emotional healing, and to bring harmony, peace, and balance to the psyche with their resonance, and vibration. A traditional example of this is the use historical use of copper to reduce swelling and inflammation. As the crystal malachite has a high concentration of copper within it, this crystal may help to relieve aching joints, and muscles.

Crystal healing is an art, and a practice that can be very effective to relax, calm, and open the channels of the body, mind and spirit to receive deep healing. Any, and all crystals can be used in healing sessions, and while there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to do this, it is a good idea to have a step-by-step guide to follow. Below I have provided one for you to use.

Crystal healing session

  • Create sacred space using sage, sound vibrations, incense, energy, or intention.
  • Ground and cleanse yourself with sage smoke.
  • Choose the crystals you will be using.
  • Arrange the recipient on a massage table, or the floor with soft blankets underneath. Support the knees, and neck with pillows, or bolsters. Place an eye pillow over their eyes.
  • Create a crystal grid, or design with the crystals on and around their body.
  • Stand at the feet of the recipient with your arms at your side, palms facing up towards the sky.
  • Ground yourself to the earth, by sending your energy down, and out through your feet.
  • Imagine that you are surrounded with white light, and this light is all around you, sealing your aura.
  • Ask for permission to perform this healing work from the recipient’s higher self.
  • Ask for angels, guardians, and the guides of both you, and the recipient to be present.
  • Then, with palms facing the soles of the recipient feet, but not touching them; wait for the feeling of the client grounding. Visualize their energy streaming from their soles to the earth. Watch for foot twitches to indicate this is complete. If no foot twitching, continue on.
  • Guide the recipient into a trance state using soothing words, or a brief meditation.
  • Move, and sweep your hands softly, gently, and slowly, all around the body without touching it, keep your hands about 10 inches above the body. Pause wherever there are crystals, or wherever you feel moved to do so, and make notice of any feelings, sensations, or information that you may receive.
  • When you feel complete; remove the crystals from on, and around the body.
  • Fluff and smooth the recipient’s aura with your hands by making gentle sweeping motions all around their body.
  • Seal the auric field with your hands by moving them in crisscross patterns from head to toe above the body, and then all around the edge of the recipient’s body without touching them, as you visualize that you are sealing the auric field.
  • Ground the recipient and yourself by standing at their feet once again, with palms out towards the soles of their feet, and waiting for the feeling of grounding. Visualize their energy streaming from the soles to the earth. Watch for foot twitches to indicate this is complete. If no foot twitching, continue on.
  • Make circular motions at the soles of their feet visualizing that you are sealing energy here.
  • Let the recipient know the session has ended, and move your body away from theirs. Ground yourself, and imagine that your energy is clean and clear.
  • Give thanks.
  • At this time, you may discuss any findings that you wish to share from the session with the recipient.

Colour Therapies – Gemstone & Crystal Healing

Colour Therapies – Gemstone & Crystal Healing

Gemstones and crystals play a big role in Arkrealm The Apprentice. In the novel all the Arketykes use crystals to access their powers and you can do the same. We will start with the simplest techniques and build up week by week. I will mention auras and chakras here, but I will go into more depth about these in later weeks. For now—an aura is an energy field, like a bubble, that surrounds every living thing and a chakra is a spinning wheel of energy, which is located at various spots in the body. Each chakra represents a different colour.

Gemstones are such an affordable way to begin with crystal therapy. I started my collection of gemstones with basic tumble-stones, available in New Age shops and markets at very affordable prices. The thing I like about them is that they are small and can fit into a pocket, in your bag or purse, be left on your desk to roll through your fingers to help thought processes, or even tucked into your pillow at night. Sometimes I tuck one into my bra for extra supportive energy. When you become a more advanced crystal user you can incorporate it with your meditation practises and chakra work, which we will cover in weeks to come.

How do crystals work? It’s one of those intangible things where it’s hard to prove, but they have been used throughout history with countless pieces of literature written about them. Of course science still turns its head on them. I for one can tell you I feel the energy resonating from them. Crystals, rather than gemstones are used in watches so they certainly do have energy, but they are generally more expensive. So let’s start off on the lower scale. Once you feel the changes happening in your life you will be thrilled to spend the money on an elegant crystal.

Here is a simple list of the most readily available gemstone for each colour and their healing properties. When you go into a shop to choose an individual crystal try and notice any changes you feel as you touch them. This may be a change in temperature, a sound in your head, that’s how Sandy Miller chooses hers and I choose mine, or maybe you are just drawn to one colour or shape in particular.

Red:Red jasper  is connected with the base chakra. It will create passion, courage & willpower and is great for helping with new projects. It assists in promoting honesty and directness. In your body it increases your physical stamina and sexual pleasure. It also supports the adrenal glands and circulation.

Orange:Carnelian is connected to the sacral chakra and is an excellent overall healing stone. It will support you with the courage to step outside your comfort zone and be adventurous. It will help you be more sociable and relieves stress and trauma. It enhances creativity. On a physical level it supports the reproductive systems, can be used for low blood pressure and for boosting the metabolism.

Yellow:Citrine is beneficial to all the chakras but the colour is associated with the solar plexus. It helps with environmental sensitivities and is useful to increase self-esteem, for study and mental focus, and creating a bright and sociable outlook, relieving worry. On a physical level it is energizing, detoxifying and a hormone balancer. It also helps digestion of food and ideas.

Custom Crystal Healing Kits

Healing crystals have been used since ancient times, and there is a wealth of knowledge as well as experience that has been handed down from generation to generation about them. Everything in life has a vibration, including our own thoughts. When we focus on these thoughts sometimes they come true , or in other words we’ve manifested the thoughts. If you’re having a horrible day and that’s all you focus on, chances are you’ll only be getting more of that negative energy back as you are sending it out into the universe. When you are feeling love, that love comes back to you as you have manifested it .

Crystals have energy properties that can work within our own energy systems, so with use, those positive vibes from the crystals will amplify our own positive thoughts. These crystals remind us to quiet the chaos in our mind and reconnect to the universal healing energy, vibrations of the Earth itself.

This is Black Obsidian, sometimes you get lucky ( which I was!) and you get a Rainbow Black Obsidian which when highly polished you can see vibrant colors of the rainbow. This stone is a highly protection stone shielding again negativity.

Many people use healing crystals , and there are endless ways to use them, from crystal therapy, mediation, to protection grids in the home. Their energies are amazing and to add to that, there’s the pure beauty of the crystals themselves. I have collected crystals since I was a child without real knowledge of what each meant. Whether it was the color, the shape or the feel of it, I collected without really knowing what exactly was pulling me towards certain crystals.  I finally did some research and was surprised to find out about the healing properties as well as energy crystals could offer. It was a delight to find out that intuitively I had picked stones with meanings that were needed in those moments of my life.

The last several years, during my spiritual journey I have collected even more crystals for certain situations or needs within my life. My kids as well have enjoyed learning about crystals , what they mean and have become very good at picking up their energies. From holding a stone daily for courage , or focus, to crystals under pillows to help ward off nightmares we’ve all enjoyed the benefits of healing crystals in our life.

A couple months ago I came across an amazing Etsy store, called Mystical Serenity, you can check it out here. This lovely shop is full of high quality crystals for any and all occasions, but the one thing I found and am completely hooked on- are her healing kits! There are kits created with specific needs in mind. There are some for better sleep, some for mediation, serenity, housewarming , even crystal gridding. I  had already gotten kits from Jenny, the shop owner awhile back , but recently asked her for two custom kits which she did an amazing job on.

These kits were gorgeous! The pictures do no justice let me tell you! She finds unique containers to hold the crystals and nest them in their own moss and dried flowers, so everything is safe and ready for you upon arrival.

 They are so beautiful!!

An amazing Cleanse & Clearing kit, and an Emotional Healing kit. The emotional kit I asked to be made for the entire family, so there were some really great crystals that the kids can grab-n-go with to keep in their pockets. Each crystal has a unique vibration that works to clear blockages and ward off negative energy while lifting the positive vibes up within us and around us. Depending on your mood and what your guided too, you may pick up the same or a different crystal each time you reach for one. I find them calming and grounding in times I need to refocus from the day.

Sage was added to the Cleanse & Clearing kit which is always a must for the house! The container is a heart shaped planter ( it’s so cute!) As soon as I find a cute house plant to put in it, it’ll hold my sage !

There was a cheat sheet if you will, for the crystals and their meanings which was great because more than half the crystals I’ve not had before, nor knew their meanings. It was a great learning experience and a joy to unbox! I often find myself grabbing the same crystals day to day while I’m working or doing some art for inspiration, or grabbing crystals for mediating that feel more grounding and calming then others.

This is a FUN box! Besides the crystals in it, it’s just an all around cheerful colorful box. My daughters took it to put their own crystals in for safe keeping.

Jenny did an amazing job with these, and you can tell she puts a lot of care and dedication into making all of her kits. Not only should you check out her shop, you should check out Mystical_serenity’s Instagram right here, She holds live sales in which are very addicting! Jenny is able to answer all your questions about crystals, can easily suggest the best match for you if you ask, and is more than willing to create any kit you ask for.

For some unique and beautiful one of a kind gifts check out her shop! There is something for everyone, you won’t be disappointed!

The Connection Between Crystal Healing And Spirituality

What Are Crystals?

Crystals consist of matter formed from an ordered pattern of ions, molecules and atoms. The lattice that forms spread out in three-dimensions. Since there are repeated units, these crystals have recognisable structures. Crystals that are large display flat faces (regions) plus well-defined angles.

Crystals that have obvious flat faces are known as euhedral crystals, while the ones lacking defined faces are known as anhedral crystals. The ones that consist of ordered atom rays that are not always periodic are known as quasicrystals.

The word “crystal” is derived from the krustallos, an Ancient Greek word meaning ”rock crystal” as well as “ice”.

What Is Crystal Healing?

It’s a non-invasive, holistic, vibrational energy-based method of healing. It treats an individual plus their integrated energy system. It’s therapeutic and relaxing. The technique uses specifically crystals either on or/and around your physical body.

Also, crystals may be laid in precise grids (geometric patterns) within the environment. Crystals focus, absorb, detoxify, direct, shift as well as diffuse energy as they are interacting with the electromagnetic forces plus subtle vibrations within the environmental energy field or subtle human.

The session length depends on the technique being applied. For instance, a session that involves crystals being laid on the chakras, which are energy vortexes that link the subtle and physical energy bodies, for restoring balance can last between 20-30 minutes. A session that involves crystals being laid in complex patterns that typically deal with hidden causes of illness can last from between 60 to 90 minutes.

What Is Spirituality?

Generally, spirituality is a wide concept with room for multiple perspectives. Typically, it involves a feeling of connection to a bigger thing than ourselves, and it involves searching for meaning in your life.

For that reason, it’s a universal human experience, it touches everyone. A spiritual experience may be described by people as transcendent, sacred or a deep feeling of aliveness as well as interconnectedness.

Spirituality and health go together. Spiritual healing puts focus on bringing harmony to your life. Healing crystals can help you to achieve your purpose, whatever it may be. If you’re on the spiritual path, you’re likely to see that the current changes of the earth are challenging you in taking the next step.

Many people have emotional problems and spiritual healing can be one of the objectives when you are doing the healing. When you use crystals in certain ways, they can help you grow more ‘spiritual’. If you are having emotional issues, heart chakra stones will help you.

The Benefits of Crystal Healing and Spirituality?

They bring deep relaxation and harmony, which are effective antidotes to depression, anxiety or stress and essential in maintaining your general well-being. They can relieve physical symptoms of diseases that are related to stress and may help with immune disorders as well as provide pain relief through relaxing muscle tension.

They can be helpful for sleep problems, raised blood pressure, chronic fatigue and insomnia. At an emotional level, healing crystals and spirituality can stabilise your moods and enhance your self-esteem. When it comes to the mental level, they induce clarity and enhance focus. They are used for changing unwanted behaviours, addictions and thought patterns.

Healing crystals and spirituality create an acceptance of all the aspects of being, hence that leads to a more peaceful plus a centred life.

The Ultimate Crystal Healing Guide

I am writing about a taboo subject that very few people write about or disclose about their Kundalini experience.   As you may be aware, Kundalini energy is sexual energy resting at the base of the human spine.  When this energy is raised, it helps us with an awakening experience and creates awakening symptoms.  The side effect is heightened sexual energy that can get out of control.  This sexual energy is intended to help us expand our consciousness and spiritual awareness, expand to a higher vibration, and help us live a more authentic life. If this energy is not used for these purposes, we will try to release this energy through sexual intercourse.

For those who have experienced trauma or abuse, or suffer from emotional or mental problems, particularly from sexual abuse or assault, this Kundalini energy becomes distorted and many have exploited this sexual energy for personal gains through sexual promiscuity, not associated with polyamory that is their other sexual partners do not know about these sexual and etheric activities.

Many seek out other Kundalini active individuals for sex and energetic connections while still married to their husbands and wives.  These sexual liaisons are feigned as true love, tantra, or twin flames, but these sexual relationships cannot and do not last as each of these individuals have real lives with their spouses, and many have children as well.  What does this matter, you say, since they are all consenting adults having consenting affairs?

The problem is that there are spouses, children, and families who are negatively impacted by the sexual promiscuity of these Kundalini active individuals. There are deceptions, lies, infidelity, and betrayal, and distrust is created within these families. Many of the individuals say, “We just can’t tell our spouses about these sexual, etheric, and energetic connections, but it just feels so good.”   Well, the answer is live an authentic life and live your truth by sharing your life with whom you are having this energetic and sexual connection, and leave your other life behind. Living in these two worlds and two separate realities is not living an authentic life, and certainly not living any semblance of truth.

Be true to yourself and your life, as you must make a choice.  You cannot live a life with your spouse, then have an energetic connecting and a sexual relationship with another whether they are Kundalini active or not.  Alternatively, give up your energetic and sexual connection, and live an authentic life with your spouse and children.  Living in this duality is destructive and irresponsible, frequently breaking up marriages and families, causing hurt, pain, and trauma to your spouses, children, and families.

These behaviors also create cumulative negative karma for your soul lives.  Next time you get the urge to hookup with another Kundalini active person for sex or energetic connection, rethink your decision, and remind yourself about how many people you will hurt by your actions.  Sending peace and healing light. Book Review: Crystal Healing & Sacred Pleasure By Vanessa Cuccia

Please note: This post contains affiliate links, which means that if you make a purchase, I will receive a small commission at no additional cost to you.

I was so excited when this book was released and I’m grateful for the chance to share it with all of you as well! Crystal Healing and Sacred Pleasure, by Vanessa Cuccia, founder of Chakrubs, is a powerful book all about using crystals to explore our sacred sexuality.

For starters, it’s a beautiful book. The hardcover and linen binding are gorgeous, the photographs are simple and powerful and the layout is stunning. It does sometimes favor aesthetics over function, with small text and wide margins, but for a result that’s this pretty, I’m not complaining.

What I love about this book is how specific it is. Cuccia doesn’t try to be all things to all people, she just focuses in on her passion topic and delves into the deep, fulfilling details. She starts off by explaining her own sexual journey and how she found an affinity for crystals to help herself realize her strengths, her desires and her magick. She gets personal, she gets vulnerable and it works: by the time you get to the main content of the book, you’re already invested in Cuccia’s personal story and relating to her struggles and desires.

I was absolutely thrilled when I reached the primary portion of the book as it exceeded my expectations. Each chapter focuses on a chakra, which I wasn’t expecting but is a great way to organize crystals. Chakras give us a beautifully simple way to talk about our emotions in relation to different aspects of life, such as love, sex and spirituality.

The book takes a sensitive but forthright approach to sexuality that I think is so important in the modern world. We have spent so many generations stifling conversations about sex, gender, pleasure, what sex means to the individual and to the collective and how to explore your own desires and what feels good to you. Those centuries of oppression are boiling over these days and conversations like those that Crystal Healing and Sacred Pleasure start are wonderfully healing and nurturing.

Each chapter gives an overview of what the energy of that chakra is all about, followed by what that chakra looks and feels like when it is “healthy” and when it “needs acknowledgement”. The chapter then details a specific ritual for working with crystals in an erotic way in order to heal and connect with that particular chakra. For example, the root chakra ritual is called “The Lotus Grows Out of the Mud” and includes a sensitive exploration of the genitals and thighs, while the third eye chakra exercise is called “Summoning the Power of Dreams” and includes suggestions for lucid dreaming.

My favorite part of the book aside from the detailed rituals are the crystal pages. Each chapter has a full page spread with photos of suggested crystals to use for that chakra, followed by columns of information about those crystals and their benefits. It’s both beautiful and user-friendly – my Virgo heart’s dream-come-true!

Overall, I love this book. It’s visually stunning, sexually arousing and spiritually awakening. I encourage you to pick up a copy and see for yourself how crystals, pleasure and magick are intertwined.

Crystal Healing 101 ~ Your Safety Matters

How safe is your spiritual, psychic, or crystal healing practice?

There’s nothing more exciting than answering your calling and pursuing your purpose.

Earning a living as a healer or psychic and running a spiritual business, though a lot of work, is so fulfilling, and it’s a dream come true for a lot of people who are seeking to find deeper meaning in their lives.

What can get missed, though, are safety concerns. We’re talking physical security, legal protection, energy protection, and crystal care (if you work with crystals).

The reality of the world we live in, is that while we are doing beautiful work and attracting wonderful clients to our services, there are still scammers, predators, sexual solicitors, and angry people out there, and it only takes one to do you a world of harm.

And as a healer, if you’re not honoring certain things like boundaries, laws, liabilities, and proper care of your crystals, you could potentially (and unintentionally!) harm a client.

This is the real-world side of being a healer, beyond the trainings, psychic development, and IG posts with sparkles and unicorns (I love sparkles and unicorns!).

And if you’re a client or someone who receives spiritual healing, it’s also worth a read if you have any concerns about boundaries or liabilities.

As more and more people are answering the call and setting out to become professional healing practitioners (which I am beyond honored to be helping to facilitate!), safety concerns could become an increasing issue.

Head on over to my blog and read my article “Crystal Healing 101: Safety Tips”for great info that can help you, and please feel free to ask any questions in the comments area of my blog.

Quote of the Week

“We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity.”

The ultimate beginners guide to crystals and crystal healing

How do crystals work?

“The whole world is made of energy- every person, every object is vibrating at different frequencies. When we are happy we emit high vibes and when we are burnt out and down we emit low vibes. Energy is fluid and changeable and we can use crystals to change this energy and align ourselves with the vibe we want.

The Egyptians used Hematite crystal as a mirror, The Greeks used to rub the same stone onto their soldiers bodies before they charged forth in to battle – there is literally a crystal to aid and support anything you wish to promote or remove in your life.

Crystal are formed under pressure (much like ourselves), and they can work to heal or realign our energy when it’s out of swing or to amplify and enhance good vibes- to help us feel more alive and bring us within reach of all those desires and goals we’d like to fulfil. They’re the ultimate powerhouses of the earth, ready to raise your vibrations- to walk with you, explore with you, teach you and help you develop your intuition.”

Why are they so popular in the fashion and beauty world right now?

Just like make up and fashion is used to focus on or draw your eye and attention to flatter our greatest features, so are crystal but just on a different level. I also feel that we live in an age of where we’re so ‘switched on and connected’ via technology’ but we’re looking for something more real – we want to get back to what it truly means to be us and crystals can be so powerful in that process, that’s why I feel now is there real time to shine.

Historically they’ve always been used by creatives- to clear energy and minds to make space for a powerful creative journey, celebrities like Victoria Beckham and Adele also use them as talismans for luck and powerful magnets for success and radiating power.

Which crystals would you recommend for a beginner?

For a beginners kit I would say Rose Quartz, Amethyst and Selenite would be part of my go to staple crystals – promoting love, spiritual and creative lifting and universal guidance – you really cannot go wrong with these crystals when you are ‘starting out’. Beyond that – ALWAYS go with your gut, hold a piece and see what you feel and if you have a connection with it. Then play around with them, see what works for you and start journaling your experiences. Knowing what helped you and when can be really powerful.

How do we start to work with them?

It’s all about your own intuition and feeling your way to what you need. Try putting your crystals in a lineup, in front of you. Rub your hands together gently three times to stimulate the chakra points at the centre of your hands then move your dominant hand over the crystals- right to left. Take long deep breaths and close your eyes, then turn to your intention. What do you want. Asking is important. Try something like ‘Please guide me to what I need’ and continue floating your hand back and forth over them. You’ll be drawn to one of them- sometimes I feel a gentle prickling or a breeze. When I’ve chosen I tend to like to keep it on my skin – be that holding it my hand but mainly by putting it in my bra

Is there any science behind them?

Look at the Einstein quote – “Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality.”

Crystals are formed based on environment, pressure, temperature, science- and in terms of their healing properties I think we’re just scratching the surface of what these beauties can do – tribes and religions have been holding their secrets at heart for years.

How do we look after them?

Much like a sponge, your crystals soak up remnants of your emotion or day and need cleansing. You cannot beat the moon when she is full for cleansing and charging your Crystals – for those stones that are not soluble I would run them through or bathe them in cold water before laying them out in the moon light or on your window sill during a full moon. When a full moon feels too long away – you can nest them in sand or natural salts.

The Top 5 Crystals For Moms

May 11, 2018 — 9:25 AM

For moms, nurturing others often comes naturally. But what about caring for ourselves? As a business owner and a single mother of twins, I have stumbled across a tool to help me take care of myself in a subtle but powerful way: crystals.

Yep, working with gemstones for the last 20 years has taught me how these powerful gifts from Mother Nature are truly life-changers. They are little reminders of how incredible we are as moms, and they help encourage us to take a breath when we’re faced with a moment of challenge. I’ve seen how their healing effects can help shift a day of stress into a day of calm. I can use different stones to keep me steady, balanced, and happy throughout my day. There are thousands of stones with amazing healing properties, but I’ve rounded up the top five that I can’t live without as a mother. They’ll make a perfect, earthy gift for the nurturers in your life.

Black onyx is the stone of strength and perseverance. When I gave birth to my twins, I wore nothing else for the next three years. I was naturally drawn to this stone, but it wasn’t until later that I learned it is the stone of endurance. This stone helped ease the transition into motherhood, which no one can prepare you for. It was exactly what I needed.

Rose quartz is the stone of love and compassion that opens and heals the heart. As mothers, we give love all the time, yet often we forget to receive. This stone is the perfect reminder to love ourselves unconditionally. Only when we truly love ourselves are we able to receive love from others.

Turquoise is the stone of health, balance, and intuition. It is a very nurturing stone that always helps bring me back to my center. As a blue stone, it’s also connected to the throat chakra, the powerful energy center that helps us to speak up for ourselves. When we speak our truth, anything is possible!

Carnelian is the stone of protection, stability, and vitality. This stone helps you be fearless and courageous in all that you do. When life hands me a little more than what I’m ready for, this is the stone I wear to push me through to the other side. Wear it to channel your inner fearless goddess!

Last but not least is angelite, the stone of acceptance. I like to use this for my own self-acceptance and compassion toward all that I do as a mom. I have heard from so many moms that we all carry guilt and self-judgment. This happy and calming blue stone helps me to love and accept myself just the way I am.

Understanding people’s obsession with crystals

Crystals have been at the forefront of recent fashion and wellness trends. Celebrities are putting traces of these mineral rocks into their new perfume products while numerous physical and online stores display entire chunks of crystals, advertising their supposed healing powers and energy.

But people’s fascination with crystals and other gemstones dates back thousands of years, and Stanford scholar Marisa Galvez is digging into how and why that obsession started.

Galvez, an associate professor of French and Italian, is working on a comprehensive history of the relationship between people and crystals through the centuries.

“The physical qualities of crystal make it stand out among other stones,” Galvez said. “Its ability to refract light and its transparent but dark appearance are partially the reason why so many different cultures and societies prescribed magical powers to this stone.”

Galvez found that some poets and authors during the Middle Ages used imagery of crystals in their writing in an unexpected manner. Aside from being commonly viewed as an embodiment of purity and perfection, crystals were also used by some medieval poets as a way to examine desire and the uncertainty of love, Galvez said.

Stanford News Service interviewed Galvez about her research.

What inspired you to start this research?

It happened sort of randomly. I was talking to a friend who is now an architect in New York. She asked me if I knew anything about the history of crystals because she noticed that many 20th-century architects and writers, such as Paul Scheerbart, Bruno Taut and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, were fascinated with crystals. They were inspired by medieval stories about crystal and fantasized about transparent crystal skyscrapers and utopian cities made of glass.

I became curious. What other legends about crystals are out there?

We already know from other scholarship that crystal symbolized spiritual purity and perfection and was often used in religious contexts, especially in Christian churches where it was used to decorate Gospel books and other important religious items. But that wasn’t the only way people viewed crystals.

What is the biggest takeaway from what you’ve found so far?

The most ancient writings that mention crystal include the accounts of the Roman historian Pliny the Elder, who described different precious stones, their origins and physical qualities. The word “crystal” comes from the Greek krystallos, literally meaning “coldness drawn together,” or a kind of ice.

In Western Christianity, crystal was often mentioned in writings and used to decorate important religious objects, as it was thought that crystal manifested transcendence and the light of the heavens. For the religious, the stone symbolized purity, faith and perfection. For example, it was used to described the purity of the Virgin Mary.

In my current focus on the writing in the 12th and 13th centuries, I find something even more interesting. Medieval troubadours played around with the symbolism of crystal. They used the stone and its qualities to describe the beauty of the main character’s love interest in their stories. But they also used crystal to describe different aspects of carnal desire and love.

As an example, one piece of writing I found draws a parallel between the uncertainty one can feel when falling in love and the uncertainty one experiences when looking through a transparent but cloudy crystal, unsure what he or she is seeing.

What is your favorite use of crystal symbolism that you’ve found so far?

I was surprised to find out how 12th-century poet Bertran de Born compared the teeth of a woman he described in a passage to crystal. In this lyric, titled “From now on, you shouldn’t spend a whole morning eating,” the troubadour uses crystal to signify the sensual pleasures of courtship.

From the passage: “By the charming conversation and the beautiful smile she gave me, when I saw her teeth of crystal and her body, slim, delicate, and fresh and smooth, so pretty in her tunic – and her color was fresh and rosy – she locked up my heart.”

Reading that passage makes me think of a woman with a set of bright grills. It’s quite surprising. We expect him to say her face is like crystal, but there is something carnal about crystal teeth. The image helps us understand that poets were attune to the physical qualities of crystal and translated that into erotic desire.

Why is it important to do this research?

Understanding the history of how crystal was perceived by different people throughout human history informs why we are fascinated with this stone to this day.

Aside from its more obvious symbolism of faith and innocence, crystal was also a material for thinking about – and not merely representing – erotic love. Even in descriptions of exotic “Eastern” architecture in medieval texts, the crystalline qualities of fountains and buildings evoke mystery, uncertainty and desire. This was probably because the stone itself has contradictory aesthetic qualities. Crystal is transparent but you need to put effort in order to see through it. It refracts light, but it can also emit light.

I think medieval poets were inspired by these ambiguous qualities, so that’s why they used crystal as a symbol and a medium to examine desire and love.

Why do you think people are still obsessed with crystals to this day?

People have always had this fascination with precious stones. But people latched on to crystals partly because they have these contradictory physical qualities: They are both dark and transparent. You can see through them, but not really.

That history helps explain the continuing contemporary obsession with crystals and how they are thought to have magical, healing effects and energy.

In the Middle Ages, people also thought that crystals would bring a spiritual presence. People had this hunger to have something physical that embodies faith and spirituality.

People still have that hunger now, and that’s why crystals are so popular. Crystals, in a way, fulfill a spiritual need for some people. Some people go to church, some do yoga, and others collect and meditate with crystals.

Here Is Why Your Crystals May Not Be Working Properly

  • Home

Why Your Crystals ? May Not Be Working ?

One thing I’d like to clarify before we dive into anything else is that we should not rely on crystals (ALL ON THEIR OWN) for a specific cure. People often come to me with a medical diagnosis they’ve received, and they want to know which crystal is good for healing/curing that particular medical issue. When it comes to a medical diagnosis, crystals are fantastic for supporting a sound holistic health plan overseen by a medical professional

Also, when I say “holistic,” to most people, that means taking into account all the different aspects that come into play with healing. Physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually.  Not just your body but your mind and your spirit as well, so you’re not just addressing the physical symptoms. I believe when it comes to healing this is how everyone should approach the process and that includes medical professionals.

Crystals are PART of a sound holistic Practice

Crystals allow us to tap into the vibrational frequencies or healing frequencies that we might be seeking more efficiently. Not to say that you can’t accomplish this without crystals, it most certainly can be done. However, crystals are here to assist us as a tool, allowing us to do the required work using less energy. In the world of physics, the definition of a tool is something that allows you to do the work using less energy.

For example, If you have a lawnmower, that’s a tool that will enable you to cut the grass using a lot less energy than going out there with a pair of scissors and cutting each blade of grass individually. So yes, as part of sound holistic healing practice, crystals can be a huge help. However, it could also be that your approach to working with the crystal is what’s blocking your desired outcome.

Three things you can do to get your crystal working again

#1 – Ease into working with the stone

I see people try and force a specific stone into their life all the time. They pick up something new and want to dive into it immediately. I would recommend taking a slower approach when it comes to incorporating this specific stone into your life.

  • In addition to meditation, you could also consider keeping it with you when you sleep. Try putting it in your pillowcase, so it’s safe, and it doesn’t roll off the bed and then if you’re sleeping with it then you’re with it for about half the day instead of an entire day.
  • Finally, try working with the stone every other day instead of every day.

#2 – Anoint the stone

Something else to consider before wearing the stone is anointing it. Most likely through a small ceremony or even a little prayer. This creates a vibrational bond between you and the crystal. Creating that bond allows you to make the stone yours. I would also recommend anointing your stone after you’ve already completed step one. Do this little ritual with a little bit of essential oil on the tip of your finger and just put it on the stone, and maybe say a little prayer or a little affirmation in how you would like to work with the crystal.

Perhaps you can take it into your sacred space. If you need ideas on creating a sacred space, I have a free eKit on creating a sacred space you can check out which includes a meditation mp3.

Start by taking a tiny little drop of essential oil and putting it on the crystal. If you prefer something like Florida Water or holy water that’s acceptable too. Before doing so, however, I would check the stone’s Mohs hardness. We want to make sure that the stone has a Mohs hardness of five or higher. Otherwise, water can slightly damage the aesthetics of the crystal if you’re not careful. Also, I like to be overly cautious in this area. Finally, rub the oil on the stone while stating a favorite prayer or an affirmation. You can also leave it in your sacred space for seven days or so. This process can help create a very strong bond between you and that crystal.

#3 – Retune your crystal

The third thing you can do is retune your crystal. Here we would use something like a crystal singing bowl or even a tuning fork. You can also place your stone in front of a speaker and turn the music up loud.  What this does is create sound acoustics with a high amplitude, and that high amplitude is going to trump the oscillatory frequency of the crystal. It will recalibrate it down to the crystal lattice, or down to the molecules.

I hope you like the three steps you can take to get your crystal working again! If nothing on this list works for you, it might be that your time with this particular stone is up. WHICH IS OK I PROMISE! If it truly is time to part with your crystal then consider gifting it to someone else or even regifting it back to Mama Earth.

Let me know in the comments if you’ve used any of these steps to reconnect with your crystals! I’d also love to hear if you have a specific stone that doesn’t work for you? Or maybe a one that you feel has never worked for you?

Pass Your Exams With Our 5 Crystals For Success!

Pass your exams, or send crystal energy to anyone taking their tests with our 5 must-have gems!

Q: “My daughter is taking her exams at university soon – are there any crystals that she or I can use to bring her luck?”

A: “There are five crystals that work in harmony together to bring luck during exam time. I find that putting Amazonite, Aventurine, Snow Quartz, Sodalite and Clear Quartz in an organza bag and carrying them around with you helps greatly.

Amazonite calms the nerves. Aventurine is good for physical tension and stress. Snow Quartz clears the mind, allowing you to both study and stay focused. Sodalite eliminates mental confusion and encourages rational thought. Clear Quartz is a master healing crystal and can help with focus and clarity, as well as boosting the other crystals in the set!

“Your daughter should carry the crystals with her so that their energy can begin to work in her aura.

“If you cannot get the crystals to your daughter, you can set up a simple crystal grid at home. There are five crystals, so the easiest grid is a five-pointed star. Find a picture of your daughter and make that the central focus point of your grid. Then, as you arrange the five crystals in a star formation, set your intention that the grid is to help your daughter with her exams.

“Pour love into your grid and leave it to do its job.” – TRACY MUNN

Amazing Herbs that Eliminate Uric Acid Crystals —

Uric acid crystals tend to form on our body when the levels of uric acid are abnormally high. Uric acid is basically the final product when proteins are broken down which is often eliminated from the body through urinating. But there are some incidents when people retain high levels of uric acid that form into crystals when they are not eliminated completely. When these crystals aren’t removed, inflammation and pain can happen around the affected area. The good news is that there are natural remedies available that will help dissolve these crystals that are forming in your joints and other parts of the body. Here are a few that are worth checking out.

Apple cider vinegar

Never underestimate the power of apple cider vinegar when it comes to reducing the uric crystals in your body. You see, apple cider vinegar acts as a natural detoxifier and cleanser which make it effective in cleansing your body from uric acid. Another thing that makes ACV effective in breaking down uric crystals is the malic acid that it contains. Ingesting this vinegar can deliver antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits to your body.

Alfalfa sprouts

Eating alfalfa not only delivers vitamins and minerals into your body but it also has the ability to reduce your uric acid levels significantly. Another benefit to eating alfalfa sprouts is that it has this amazing alkalizing effect inside the body which can raise one’s pH levels while removing the formation of uric acid crystals. This is actually useful in preventing gout flare-ups which is why it is a good addition to your diet if you have been diagnosed with high uric acid levels.

Devil’s claw

Another herbal remedy that can help remove uric acid crystals as well as minimizing the effects of arthritis is devil’s claw. This herb has certain substances that can lower the uric acid levels that are present in your blood.

Sour black cherries

You can also take advantage of cherry juice as well as fresh black cherries that are actually effective in treating kidney stones and gout. Eating black cherries can reduce the serum levels of uric acid and can actually help dissolve uric acid crystals that are found in gouty joints as well as in kidney stones. In the case of sour cherries, they have an alkalizing effect on the tissues as well as blood which is actually similar to that of lemon juice and alfalfa. What’s more, cherries contain high amounts of anthocyanins which mean that they have anti-inflammatories and antioxidants.

4 Powerful Crystals for Empaths and Sensitive Souls

By Adrienne Goff Being an empath is a beautiful gift and a spiritual superpower, although it might not always feel like it. An empath is somebody who is able to feel the emotions, the energy, and even the physical pain of others. They tend to have a heart of gold and a highly developed intuitive sense. This heightened level of sensitivity and perception can make an empath shine as a healer, a counselor, or in any helping profession. Literally feeling what others are experiencing can guide you in how to best assist them. Perhaps that’s why so many people are drawn to empaths! A challenge for empaths is to learn to distinguish which emotions, pains, and thoughts belong to others, and which are their own. Protection is key for empaths to help them avoid becoming overwhelmed and drained. It is also helpful for them to have skills and tools to release negative energy and emotions they may have picked up. As the cosmic and planetary energies continue to intensify, the need for empaths to practice good self-care becomes even more important. Thankfully, there are four powerful crystals that provide perfect support for empaths and sensitive souls.   1.  Sugilite Sugilite is a godsend for sensitives who are on their spiritual path due to its ability to protect, purify, awaken, and ground. It can come in various shades of purple, and some specimens contain spots of black, grey, or white. Sugilite is a shielding stone that forms an impermeable bubble of protection around you. Its protective quality keeps you safe from intrusive or disharmonious energy, negative emotions, and lower thought-forms from others or from your environment. It can also block psychic attack and prevent entity attachment. Sugilite brings in the violet fame of purification and helps you to transmute and dispel negative energy, patterns, and karma that might be affecting you–whether it originates from others or from yourself. Perhaps this is why Sugilite is commonly recommended for sensitive souls, children, or starseeds who have difficulty adjusting to the negativity that is prevalent on the Earth plane. Recommended: 6 Ways to Shift Yourself from Pain Absorbing Empath to a Healing Empath Sugilite awakens the higher chakras and keeps your intuition sharply tuned, while also grounding and balancing you.   Since it boosts the intuition, it helps empaths to navigate their surroundings and to avoid negative situations and people. It can also help empaths who do healing or metaphysical work to enhance their healing and psychic gifts. The presence of manganese, iron, and lithium gives Sugilite a calming, balancing, and grounding quality that is especially helpful for empaths. Being grounded and centered makes it easier to be aware of your own energy and to detect when you are being affected by outside influences.   2.  Lapis Lazuli     Lapis Lazuli is a beautiful blue stone with inclusions of Pyrite (fool’s gold) and Calcite. Prized by the ancient Egyptians and recognized by Edgar Cayce as the most beneficial stone for humanity, Lapis Lazuli assists with spiritual mastery, higher dimensional attunement, and auric maintenance. Lapis is a highly protective stone that seals, repairs, and strengthens your auric field, while also clearing any negativity that you might have picked up. The Pyrite inclusions ground, balance, and stabilize the entire auric field. Pyrite also blocks lower influences and energies. Some empaths experience energy drain due to a breach in their energy field, and Pyrite can help to replenish the depleted energy. The Calcite inclusions bring a pronounced clearing effect, helping to cleanse and purify the entire bio-system. Calcite also has an amplifying effect that energizes you and increases the power of Lapis Lazuli. For these reasons, Lapis Lazuli is one of the best, most complete protection and energy maintenance stones out there. Recommended: 5 Ways To Spot An Empath Lapis Lazuli is a stone of higher connection, wisdom, and truth that can expand your consciousness and tune you into higher levels of guidance.  It can help empaths to decipher and trust the subtle intuitive impressions they are getting, while empowering them to act upon the information appropriately. Since empaths can get bombarded by people who need help, Lapis Lazuli is a great choice for helping them to speak up and to set clear boundaries when necessary. 3.  Lepidolite A common complaint that empaths have is being anxious and overwhelmed, because they are like antennas that receive vast amounts of feelings and energies that surround them. Lepidolite is a beautiful antidote to the stress, anxiety, fear, and lower emotions from others that can inundate their fields and overwhelm them. Lepidolite is a beautiful stone that is normally in the pink, lavender, or purple spectrum and has a high lithium content. Crystals and stones containing lithium naturally emit a calming energy that can counteract feelings of panic, worry, anxiety, stress, anger, and other uncomfortable emotional states. It feels like a soothing balm that smooths out frazzled nerves and helps you to take a deep breath, relax, and let go. It effectively clears the major and minor chakras, as well as the meridians, of blocked energy, unhealthy emotions, and negative thoughts. Recommended: 6 Ways That Empaths Sabotage Their Relationships Lepidolite has a filtering effect. It helps you to tune out extraneous energies, feelings, and impressions that you don’t need to absorb. It is highly recommended for sensitive people, because it fortifies the emotional body and helps you to be less affected by drama or chaos that might enter into your sphere. It also encourages you to set your own space and to lovingly keep the door closed to energies that would throw you off center. 4.  Rainbow Fluorite   Rainbow Fluorite is a multitasking powerhouse that can help empaths on all levels of the being.  Fluorite is one of the magical minerals that can be found in a wide range of colors: pink, magenta, white, purple, blue, green, yellow, red, and black. Rainbow Fluorite has multiple colors in one stone. This means that it is equipped to clear and balance multiple chakras simultaneously. Sacred geometry also plays an important role in the energy of Fluorite. Fluorite naturally forms in the shape of the cube and the octahedron. The cube helps to structure and organize energy, while grounding and protecting you. The octahedron resonates with balance, healing, and spiritual activation. For all of these reasons, Rainbow Fluorite is the stone that keeps your feet anchored to the Earth, all of your chakras open and clear, and your consciousness attuned to the higher dimensions of reality. This is essential for empaths, so that they stay centered, grounded, protected, and tuned-in. Recommended: If You Experience These 8 Signs You Are a Highly Intuitive Empath Sensitive to Energy Rainbow Fluorite really shines when applied to the higher chakras, because it heightens your psychic ability and intuition.  It also sharpens your mental body and can help empaths to understand and process the incoming spiritual information that they are receiving. Known as the IQ stone, it brings order, coherency, and clarity to your thoughts and senses. It has a profound clearing effect, getting rid of mental clutter and general psychic debris from other people that might otherwise lead to confusion. Rainbow Fluorite has a powerful healing influence on the physical body. According to Melody, author of Love is in the Earth, Fluorite purifies, cleanses and eliminates that which is in disorder on a physical body level. Therefore it is a healing support for many diseases, such as colds, flu, infections, and even cancer. For empaths who pick up other people’s physical ailments and pains, Fluorite can help to release and heal them with greater ease and speed.   Rainbow Fluorite’s clearing, stabilizing, and protective qualities are also highly beneficial for the emotions and for the aura. It can help to clear emotions and blockages, to stabilize erratic feelings, and to bring you back into a state of emotional balance and calm. Rainbow Fluorite clears negativity from the auric field and protects against EMF’s, lower energies and thought-forms, psychic attack, and other undesirable energies.   Being an empath can rock–if you have the right rocks! Allow these four crystals to have your back, while you use your beautiful gifts to help heal people and the planet.   This article (4 Powerful Crystals for Empaths and Sensitive Souls)  was republished with permission from You can find the original post here.

How Crystals Can Help You

Crystals, gems and stones, have a long documented history of use in healing work in practically every culture and religious tradition since the dawn of time.

Are you wanting an energy boost, need assistance in grounding, or looking for a manifesting tool? Here is help in choosing the right healing crystal for your purpose. No gemstone has a singular purpose, multiple healing qualities are housed within a single stone. However, some stones have earned a reputation to be especially helpful in certain areas.

Energizing Crystals

We can all use an energy boost from time to time. Choosing an energizing stone is a great way to help you get through the tough times. Energizer type healing crystals tend to be very powerful because of their higher vibrations so you may need to use them sparingly. But, they can be miracle workers when you are feeling fatigued or weakened. You could temper them a bit if wrapped in a gold setting. Also, you might want to keep these highly-charged gemstones away from your bedside so you can get a good night’s rest.

Opal and Topaz are both good crystals for an energy boost

Manifesting Crystals

The Law of Attraction says that the reality that we experience in our lives—our degree of happiness, success, love, and abundance—is determined by our thoughts and emotions. Whatever you focus on most intently in your thoughts, whether good or bad, more of that comes into your life, which we call manifestation.

Citrine and Bloodstone are both good stones for manifestation

Meditation Crystals

Crystal meditation is a fast way of accelerating your inner and outer growth, increasing your power level, and making some strong, helpful, nonphysical connections. Also, crystal meditation is a fine way of tending to that inner person that longs and needs to understand the world and universe. However, most importantly, crystal meditation will enable you to touch powers that can help you to control the person you are.

Some favorite crystals for meditation are  Geode, Lapis, Quartz and Selenite

Shielding and Protective Crystals

Crystals can be employed as energy shields or work as protective amulets. Actually, shielding stones work best when they are worn or carried on the person. Because of the absorption qualities many of them have it is important to learn how to cleanse your crystals in order to free them from all negative energies they have picked up. Absorption is often how they protect you, they take in and bad vibrations that are lingering about so you don’t have to.

You can try these Crystals for protection: Amethyst, Calcopyrite, Kyanite and Blue Aventurine

Love Crystals

love stones generally carry warm and soft energies. Odd, how they can just land in your lap right when you need them. They can help you attract love and also assist in learning how to love yourself or become more compassionate with others.

Love Crystals include Rose Quartz, Rhodonite, Opal, Jade and Pearl.

Chakra Balancing Crystals

When you place chakras crystals directly or around your chakras, it balances your internal energy and that leads to improved well-being.

You can use any crystals in the same colour as the chakra you want to balance, some favorites are:   garnet, carnelian, citrine, green aventurine,  iolite, amethyst and rainbow moonstone.

Grounding Crystals

Certain stones can be used to help us with grounding. To use crystals for grounding, all we have to do is have them around us. They can be worn as jewelry, placed on our desk at work or carried in our pockets.

Grounding stones include Hematite, Smoky Quartz, Tiger Eye, Onyx, Bloodstone and Jasper.

Crystal Horoscopes: Healing Crystals For Scorpio Season

We’re excited to bring you our monthly Crystal Horoscopes column by spiritually savvy and dynamic Gemini, Chartreuse Tembo Barriere, founder of AstroFLOTUS and Age of Eleven. Each month she will bring us tips on how to use crystals and gemstones for the astrological season, so we can stay aligned and in tune with the energy of both the heavens and the Earth. Enjoy! -Tali & Ophi

This month’s crystal horoscopes teach you how to tap into Scorpio’s magnetic, alchemical energy. By working with the healing powers of crystals and precious gemstones, you will fan the flame of your deepest desires.

Every planet and star sign has corresponding crystals that share their energetic resonance. Think of it this way: The planets are massive, heavenly rocks that influence the energy fields on Earth, while crystals are massive, inner-earth rocks that can also influence our bodies here on the Earth’s surface. Consciously working with crystals and gemstones that correlate with the energy of each astrological season can benefit the mind, body and spirit.

Scorpio is the star sign of intense, fiery passion, often compared to the Phoenix that rises from the proverbial ashes to be born again.

As the Earth tilts away from the blazing Sun and slowly becomes darker, Scorpio season is a time to dive within. Working with Scorpio season crystals can takes us to the depths as we transition into the shadows. Traditionally, many cultures recognize otherworldly spirits during Scorpio season, such as Halloween in the U.S., the pagan ritual “Samhain,” and the Day of the Dead, commemorated by indigenous populations around the world.

Scorpio (the ruler of the eighth house in astrology) is known for its traits of power-mergers, sexual energy and transmutation. The transformational energy of this sign is deeply personal for me, as my daughter Eleven is also a Scorpio, born on 11/11.

Scorpio symbol zodiac pendant, available at

In medical astrology, Scorpio is associated with the sexual organs of the reproductive system, as well as the excretory system. So it makes sense that Scorpio symbolically ushers us into the underworld, the afterlife and the metaphysical.

As a fixed water sign, Scorpio is as deep and unassuming as a looming iceberg. Scorpionic energy is also associated with sex appeal—not in an in-your-face kind of way, but rather, an enchanting allure; a subtle, come hither magnetism.

Just as new habits take about a month to become ingrained, working with a crystal for several weeks helps your body to integrate the new vibration in conjunction with the stone. Working with the 28-day moon cycles is ideal, especially for women. Or you could start working with a new stone at the beginning of the month, or the start of a zodiac season—or of course, whenever it feels intuitively right.

Healing Crystals for Scorpio Season (October 23-November 22, 2018)

Crystals form when liquid magma from the earth’s core moves toward the surface, cools down to solidify, then crystallizes over millions of years. Malachite and black obsidian are the Scorpio season crystals I recommend, for those with strong Scorpio or Pluto in their natal charts, and for those who want to tap into their Scorpionic energy any time of year.

Malachite is an intense stone of transformation that resonates with Plutonian energy, Scorpio’s ruling planet. It helps us to understand deeper concepts, and fortifies our capacity to observe. As a stone of the monoclinic crystal structure, it embodies the state of “permanent flux,” or “making flexible plans.”

Differently from malachite’s monoclinic crystal system, obsidian is amorphic, meaning it has no set crystalline structure on the molecular level. Obsidian is volcanic glass which cooled too quickly for any significant crystallization to occur. In essence, obsidian is a “young” mineral compared to other stones which are old enough to have crystallized.

Amorphous stones form under extraordinary circumstances, and working with these stones helps us to see how every moment is new and spontaneous, and that we all are in position to experience the full spectrum of emotions. Amorphous stones help us to let go of rigid plans and to be the flow, and obsidian’s rapid solidification is resonant with the fast process of transformation associated with Scorpionic energy.

Properties of Healing Crystals

Malachite is a deep green mineral that forms alongside copper in layers of different shades of green. Its copper properties give it both an energetically conductive charge and a highly toxic composition if inhaled or ingested, much like the intensity of Scorpio!

Similarly to malachite’s properties, Scorpio detonates and destructs at the push of a button, so you really have to stay grounded when working with such intense energy.

Meditating with malachite can accompany you through the Scorpionic transformation process, encouraging you to look deep into the metaphysical causes of any ailments or troubles, particularly in the reproductive region of the body. Similar to copper’s healing properties, malachite’s mineral formation is said by crystal healers to protect against radiation, energize your cellular structure, enhance blood circulation through the sex organs, and ease any challenges with feminine processes such as menstruation or childbirth.

Black Obsidian:

A Scorpio’s karmic theme and lesson in their lifetime is to master power on all levels. Black obsidian can be one of the most powerful stones to work with in this regard, as it takes you to the depths of great psychological insight.

In antiquity, obsidian was used as an aid for spiritual rituals and indigenous shamanic ceremonies, as it dissolves tension and helps move stagnant energy. Often polished like a black mirror, obsidian can be used in the process of crystal gazing, also known as scrying.

Obsidian can help relieve physical pain, emotional grief and subconscious trauma, as well as initiate the psychological release of blockages. Similar to malachite and its copper-like qualities, obsidian also can improve circulation.

Metaphysical Properties

My home country of Zambia produces a lot of malachite in a region called the Copper Belt. Malachite is also abundant in South Africa, Zaire, Russia, Australia, Germany, Romania, Chile, and in many states in the southern region of the United States.

Similar to the qualities of Scorpio and the eighth house, malachite represents seduction, sensuality and beauty, and is said to alleviate feminine challenges in menstruation or labor. Historically, malachite has often been dedicated to goddess energy: in Egypt it was Hathor’s stone, the goddess of joy and feminine love. In classical times it corresponded with Aphrodite the goddess of love and beauty. In Norse mythology it was associated with Freja, the goddess of flowers, fruit trees and gardens. In Slavic mythology, malachite was dedicated to the Mistress of the Copper Mountains; also known as the Malachite Maid.

The green color of malachite resonates with the heart chakra—a good reminder for Scorpio, as this sign can often operate in the depths of darkness and in the lower root chakra. Its forceful nature can absorb negative energy and pollutants, and will bring to light to that which blocks your spiritual path. Since it forms banded, circular layers, it complements the mystical, watery depths of Scorpionic energy.

Black Obsidian:

Obsidian goes straight to the subconscious realm and unearths the shadows of our nature—even the aspects that some of us would rather not see in ourselves. Working with obsidian can help us to understand how certain triggers may be dormant or subconscious within ourselves.

When working with black obsidian, one must be ready to harness the darker energies of Scorpio and journey into the underworld to transform. Much like Scorpio energy can sting, obsidian brings very blunt and direct insights and answers when you work with it. Not a stone to be taken lightly, obsidian unearths a lot of subconscious trauma while it brings clarity.

One has to prepare to be presented with a lot of potentially heavy energy, which is why Scorpio season is prime time to work with this stone.

Note: Since black obsidian is so intense, apache tear and snowflake obsidian are a few softer varieties you could use during Scorpio season.

Apache tear (not pictured) is a lighter, more translucent variety of obsidian and may be gentler on the psyche. Rather than blasting you with a surge of deep energy, apache tear brings comfort in times of grief and helps one to attain true understanding of a situation.

Snowflake obsidian is a slightly older formation of the obsidian mineral that has already begun the crystallization process; hence its grey specks of feldspar. This gentler version of obsidian helps us to recognize the beauty in aloneness and go deep into meditation and surrender to the process.

How to Cleanse and Program Crystals

Crystals are largely comprised of silicon dioxide (SiO2), which is the material used in watches for timekeeping and silicon computer memory chips for storing large quantities of information. Thus, crystals are inherently programmable, and you can set your intentions for what you would like to work through with your stone.

Before working with any crystal, you want to smudge—energetically cleanse—the stone by passing it through the smoke of a purifying type of incense such as white sage, Palo Santo, or frankincense and myrrh. Just as white sage is used to energetically cleanse a new home, smudging crystals neutralizes any previous energetic imprints in the stone.

To program your crystal, sit upright comfortably with your stone in your left hand, and place your right hand over the crystal. Take three deep breaths with the intention of attuning with the crystal’s vibration, and state your intentions either in your head, or spoken aloud. Sample intentions are offered below.

Meditation, Intentions and Affirmations with Crystals for Scorpio Season

Scorpio is all about power, and how you wield or mold it. Meditating with these Scorpio season crystals can help amplify your intentions of moving about the world in a powerful and productive way. During Scorpio season when the nights grow longer, sunrise meditations are especially powerful, setting the tone for the day as darkness gives way to light.

Since Scorpio pertains to the reproductive region of the body, it also resonates with the root chakra near the base of the spine. We hold our subconscious trauma in this root area, since it pertains to our power, security and sense of feeling grounded. Women in particular carry a lot of trapped energy in their womb center as well.

To make meditation a daily habit, start by spending five to ten minutes each morning focusing on your breath and working with these Scorpio-themed intentions and affirmations for your meditation practice.

I recommend writing down the affirmations below with pen on paper and keeping them next to you as you meditate. Feel free to add your own Scorpio themes as you see fit. Also, if you find it challenging to quiet your thoughts as you sit in silence, there are many meditation apps available, such as the Calm App or the Headspace App. Or, you can search for crystal singing bowl meditation tones or binaural beats on YouTube such as these:

Crystals For Spirit and Skin

Crystals and the Skin

We know vitamins and minerals nourish the body, so where do crystals fit in? Vitamins are antioxidants that provide protection against the harmful effects of free radicals to the cells in your skin. Vitamin C, A, E and K are highly effective for skin preservation, cell renewal, brightening and exfoliating the skin. Simply stated, we know vitamins are good for the skin. This is a no brainer for estheticians and why so many facial treatments incorporate vitamin-rich chemical peels, serums and masks.

On the other hand, a mineral is a naturally occurring chemical compound that grows in a crystalline form, making crystals minerals. Crystals carry a negative charge, while toxins and free radicals carry a positive charge, which is important in the removal of toxins and free radicals from the skin. Negative ions magnetically draw out positively charged particles to detoxify, cleanse and heal the skin. Some crystals have such a powerful charge that you can feel them actively tingle in your hand. Adding crystals into a facial treatment is a great idea that can increase revenue and benefit your client’s skin and spirit.

Crystals and the Spirit

Crystals emanate vibrational energy, and different crystals relate to different types of healing and wellness. Crystals have been used in healing since the beginning of humankind. The oldest crystals are amber, dating back as long as 30,000 years ago and some discovered in Britain from 10,000 years ago.

Crystal healing is a technique in which crystals are used to repair the body and protect against disease, allowing positive, remedial energy to flow into the body as negative, disease-causing energy is released.

Selecting a Crystal

In crystal healing, stones are assigned certain properties. Some of these properties are good for the care of skin. Selecting the right crystal out of many for skin conditions and spirit healing is easy with the right information.

Amethyst. This beautiful purple gem is a rare form of quartz that can be found within geodes around the globe. Amethyst crystals bring inner spiritual harmony and are a powerful purifying gem. The calming properties are excellent for the spa setting. Have you heard of a crystal room? It exists. Amethysts may be beautiful for home décor, but they are also a go-to for many facial treatments. It packs a heavy punch by gently increasing the surface body temperature, which increases blood circulation and oxygen to the skin’s cells; this translates to anti-aging and rejuvenation for sluggish skin. The cleansing, antibacterial and detoxifying properties make this gem ideal to keep acne at bay.

Rose quartz. Associated with the heart chakra and feelings of love, rose quartz can help to release stress and tension. It is a powerful healing crystal that emits a soothing vibration. A popular gem for skin care, this crystal can stimulate cells called fibroblasts to make more collagen, which is important for wound repair. It stimulates blood circulation and brings more oxygen to the skin, clearing away toxins and impurities. The natural exfoliating and healing properties make it excellent for facial treatments. Rose quartz will literally rock your world.

Diamond. Diamonds are clear, typically colorless crystals of light and illumination. This precious stone has benefits of balance, exfoliation and radiance. The luxury of the diamond transposes the skin from dull to bright. Used in the form of diamond powder, ash or diamond tipped microdermabrasion, this crystal is excellent for exfoliation and stimulating collagen. A diamond facial brings thoughts of indulgence and luxury, making it a great addition to your spa menu.

Sapphire. The sapphire is the most precious and valuable blue gemstone. Often referred to as the wisdom stone, this crystal is associated with spirituality and the divine. It releases mental tension and spiritual confusion. For the skin, it aids in stimulating the pituitary gland, which regulates pigment, making it ideal to assist in treating hyperpigmentation. The sapphire’s anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties paired with its soothing and calming abilities, make it perfect for rosacea or irritated skin. Warm, red, irritated skin can be soothed by the cool blue sapphire. It is the perfect solution and a great upsell, add-on or specialized facial.

Lepidolite. Known as Cleopatra’s favorite beauty stone, lepidolite is believed to help reverse the aging process. Lepidolite works as a natural anti-depressant and pain-relief crystal, providing peace and tranquility. Belonging to the same group as lithium, lepidolite is highly reactive and creates vibrations that respond to our body in an effective and positive way, and many say they “feel high” when interacting with it. It stimulates and purifies the skin and connective tissues, helping to aid in skin preservation. When you hold it in your hand, you will feel the electrical charge that it emanates, like a battery. Lepidolite is a shimmery light purple to pink gemstone that can be found in Brazil, Russia, Africa and the United States. It is great for clients who have mature skin and are going through menopause.

Citrine. This golden gem aids in directing personal power and creativity to enhance the physical body. Known as the success stone, it helps to manifest goals, wealth and abundance; it is a powerful cleanser and regenerator. Providing the skin a healthy dose of cell renewal, the citrine is perfect for a light exfoliation and anti-aging treatment. It can brighten the skin like a beaming ray of golden light.

Crystal On the Spa Menu

Our being is comprised of body, mind and spirit. When caring for the skin, consider the body as a whole. New findings reveal factual evidence to back up claims that crystals can benefit the skin and the entire body. In skin care, there are various treatments that can be added to your repertoire of services.

Here are a few ways to incorporate crystals into your treatments.

Crystal facial. After a thorough client consultation, choose crystals that correspond with the needs of the client for skin and spirit. Create a crystal map or grid. Typically, one crystal would be placed on the chin, one crystal on each cheek, one crystal for the third eye (area between the eyes) and one crystal for the center of the forehead. Cleanse your space both physically and energetically. The environment of the room should be very calming. After you cleanse the client’s skin, apply the crystals according to your map, and let them remain for 15 minutes. Remove and cleanse the skin. Follow normal facial procedure or offer the crystal healing as a stand-alone service.

Crystal massage. Adding a crystal tool, like a massage stone or massage pen, to your facial protocol can be a lucrative add-on service. The rose quartz roller has become an Instagram sensation. Used for lymphatic drainage and massage with all the added benefits of the rose quartz, this tool is a great upsell. A rose quartz heart shaped tool is another option. During the massage portion of the facial, massage the skin for 10 minutes with the gem for healing and calming. Another option is to chill the crystal and massage post waxing, as well.

Crystal water. Soak the desired crystals in purified water for 15 minutes or longer prior to any facial service. Use the water for cleansing or add it to a spray bottle that will lightly mist the skin to hydrate it. Other options are to wrap the feet with warm towels that are dampened with the crystal water or add it to a pedicure tub.

Crystal skin care. The number of professional skin care products formulated with crystals is numerous, but one thing is for sure, the audience loves them. Products using ruby, tourmaline, quartz, rose quartz, sapphire and diamond reveal the most radiant skin. There is a reason diamonds are a girl’s best friend—beautiful skin. Smart combinations such as a diamond exfoliator paired with quartz calming masks will leave any client feeling revitalized inside and out.

Set Yourself Apart

Choose the appropriate crystal and modality to add crystals to your menu of skin care services. This will set you apart, increase revenue and leave your client feeling renewed, relaxed and glowing on the inside and out.

Incorporating crystals into your skin care menu is brilliant. To add crystals to your repertoire of services, you need to understand what they are and how to infuse them into your treatments. So, how do crystals improve the skin? Let’s go back to science 101.

What Crystals Mean and How to Choose Them

We know: more than anything, crystals seem like the trendy desk, dresser, and bedside-table accessories. Here in Cov HQ, there are many scattered on desks beside succulents and cups of millennial pink pencils that never get used (eye roll). That said, in our ongoing quest for exceptional aestheticism (as inspired by Pinterest), we’ve stumbled across some very positive side effects of our crystal obsession.

Okay, so we’re kind of joking. We knew that the whole point of crystal-collecting has to do with harnessing the energy that these rocks possess. But there’s a method to the magic—it’s not just about whether you prefer the look of amethyst over quartz. So we asked Devi Brown, founder of retail and lifestyle brand Karma Bliss (she’s also a radio and TV personality with a knack for getting the likes of Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar to bare their souls), to break down exactly which crystals we should be looking into according to the intentions or positive changes we’d like to see in our lives. So, for example, maybe you’re looking for love, or perhaps more money (to fuel your Gucci obsession). There’s a crystal for that—multiples, in fact. Allow Brown to guide your crystal collecting, below.

Rose Quartz: “Also known as the ‘love stone’, it turns the heart towards love and helps in recognizing love. It also aids in releasing past emotional traumas.”

Rhodonite: “Also known as the ‘stone of self-worth,’ it encourages fearlessness and creates a stronger sense of self.”

Garnet: “Encouraging strength, stability, and financial gain, garnet is helpful for prosperous outcomes in business.”

Citrine: “Also known as the ‘stone of success,’ citrine provides tremendous aid in creativity and manifestation.”

Mookaite Jasper: “This crystal helps one realize their full potential and boosts intuition when making decisions, as well as giving positive energy in the workplace.”

Turquoise: “This stone enhances trust and kindness. Known across time as a securer of friendly regard, turquoise is good for strengthening bonds.”

Pink Thulite: “This helps one to open up in crowds, grow self-esteem, and connect with others without fear, as well as aiding in combating against self-sabotage.”

Amethyst: “Amethyst promotes divine connection. It helps to identify hidden causes behind emotional patterns, addictions, and behaviors.”

Flourite: “Stimulates the brain, helps to enhance learning and mental activity and clears your energy to help one make better decisions.”

Lepidolite: “Lepidolite helps with relaxation and stress relief and aids in keeping emotional stability and detachment from drama.”

The 3 Best Crystals for Overcoming Grief and Sadness

A lot of people are grieving because there’s a lot of relationships that are ending. There are all types of endings happening out there; careers are ending, relationships are ending, belief systems are ending. A lot of people suddenly are transitioning to new ways of doing things with modern technology. With all of these transitions and endings, we are experiencing a lot of emotions in our hearts and a lot of grief in our hearts.

Grief is always about the loss of something, relationships, money, or a career. Through extensive research and personal experience, I’ve found three powerful crystals and gemstones that can be used to process grief effectively.

Crystals are powerful tools that can help us work through the grieving process, let go of grief, and encourage us to breathe and survive through this process of change. Sometimes some of us have reached the point where we’re ready to let go, and we need the assistance necessary to help us through this process.

We want to work with crystals that help us let go, and that help us breathe. When dealing with grief, our organs are involved with surviving and letting go, primarily your lungs and your large intestines. Your lungs obviously help you breathe. They help you release. When you breathe, you become present. You come into the now moment. You surrender. You become vulnerable. You can release energy; you can release the breath. You become conscious of being here right now in this moment, so when you’re in the moment, you can easily consciously let go, so your lungs and the breathing process is very important in the process of letting go of stuff and letting go of grief in particular.

The other organ that is very useful in the process of letting go of grief is the large intestines. Your large intestines help in the process of elimination. It helped in the process of letting go of all that energy that is backed up. You know everything that you’ve taken in everything that you’ve digested, all that grief, energy, all that pain, energy, all those things that you’ve absorbed in your being has to go out somehow. It has to be eliminated somehow in order for you to survive.

The crystals we are working with to eliminate grief are crystals that help you let go and help you breathe. We need to breathe to release our grief, and we need to remove to let go of our sadness. In situations where we are experiencing endings in our lives which has brought on a lot of grief, we can work with our lungs and our large intestines on a physical level and on an energetic level, we can target the lungs through breathing and also the large intestines through elimination processes so that you can disentangle ourselves from this grief energy that’s caught up in our energy fields and let go of it.

The first crystal that I find to be useful for releasing grief is purple Fluorite. I find all purple crystals to be very useful for the grief release process because the purple crystals have very high elevation energies and grief is a descending energy. Sadness is an energy that brings us downward and inward, and purple crystals are very good to counteract this direction. Use purple crystals not only because they are high vibration crystals, but also because they always raise your energy output. So in any kind of grief, purple crystals are also a great choice, but the best one I recommend is purple Fluorite. I wear a purple Fluorite pendant when I”m in need of calmness and relaxation due to the stress of processing grief.

The second crystal that I recommend for grief release purposes is Apache tears, a natural form of black obsidian. It’s one of those crystals that are very good for trauma purposes and has been used for generations by the native Americans. I really like Apache tears is because it was good for the native Americans for grief release purposes. This is a very comforting stone with a strong protective power to suck up negative energy. I wear a bracelet of Apache tears to support me when I am going through a difficult time or having strong negative emotions.

My favorite crystal to help with grief and sadness is the beautiful blueish crystal Larimar. If you want to release emotions big time and not play around with the situation, Larimar is a great crystal for this inner work. Larimar is a crystal that will help you flush out emotions that are hidden like no one’s business. So if there’s grief, Larimar is bound to bring it to the forefront, so I recommend for grief release purposes. When I need to process and release sadness quickly, I practice chanting meditation with my Larimar and Moonstone mantra mala beads.

When we’re working with grief, there’s always a lot of anger that’s sometimes hiding behind the grief, so if you’re working with grief and feel angry, also try to target the anger. Through this whole process of grief, we can also work with crystals that help with anger. For me, the crystal that helps me with the anger issues is usually black tourmaline. Rose quartz is also helpful because it brings a flood of love into your life.

Understanding the process of where grief is lodged or what organs are involved can help you tackle some of these and understand what’s going on with you on a physical and energetic level. Whatever crystal you choose to work with releasing and processing your grief, try to keep the gemstone next to you as much as possible. Remember to cleanse and energize your crystals on a regular basis for the most effective support.

13 Ways to Clear and Recharge Crystals

Crystals are a beautiful, elegant, and natural source of good vibes, whether they’re used in a crystal grids, gris gris bags, good luck charms, jewelry, gem elixirs, or spells! However, like anything on our planet, they also absorb a myriad of vibes from their environment. Over time, your crystals can hit their maximum capacity and become less effective or even crack, shatter, and break if not given a period of rest and repair.

In this quick article, we’ll give you a few great ways to cleanse and recharge your crystals so that they’re always giving you their all, when you need them most!

13 Ways to Clear and Recharge Crystals

1. Let them relax in running water.

Not recommended for water-soluble crystals, such as azurite.

2. Place or bury them in your garden.

3. Leave them bathe out in the Sun.

Not recommended for light-sensitive crystals, such as amethyst or citrine.

4. Let them recharge under the Full Moon.

5. Store them with Carnelian or spray them with Carnelian gem elixir.

6. Pop them into your freezer.

This is not particularly recommended because the drastic change in temperature can cause a sudden crack in your crystals.

7. Give your crystals Reiki.

8. Use Sage to raise their vibrations to their most pure and natural level.

9. Give them a spa day in room temperature salt water.

Not recommended for water-soluble or oxidizable crystals, such as selenite or hematite.

10. Store them in a bowl of salt.

Not recommended for soft crystals, such as selenite.

11. Cleanse them with vibrations by playing music in the key of D or strike a D tuned singing bowl or drum.

12. Create a cleansing and revitalizing crystal grid by resting your crystal atop a piece of Carnelian and surround it by Clear Quartz points directed inward.

13. Pass them through all 4 elements to awaken their primal energy source.

Now that your crystals are cleansed and returned to their natural state, be sure to program them to do exactly what you need! The power is yours!

Crystals and Gemstones an Introduction — theAngelLady

crystals and gemstonesCrystals and gemstones correspond and resonate with specific color frequencies, tones, and rays of light; increasing or amplifying a particular energy  vibration. Rose quartz resonates with pink or rose light, enhancing love, emotional healing, seeing through eyes of love.  Lapis resonates with deep blue light, clearing channels of communication with others or the ethereal Realm of Spirit; encouraging truth and integrity.

There are several ways crystals and gemstones can be cleansed and charged or energized by being placed in Sun light; in Moon light; rinsing them with cool running water; placing them in sea salt; burying crystals in the ground for 24 to 48 hours placing crystals with points facing upward toward the sky; pass crystals over and through incense or the flame of a white candle; visualize white or violet light in and around the crystals; place smaller crystals or stones on larger clusters of clear quartz or amethyst quartz for 24 to 48 hours, be sure to cleanse the cluster and re-charge or energize the crystal cluster in the sun or moon light.

Before cleansing and re-charging your crystals and gemstones, consider rinsing each crystal or gemstone under cool running water. If you are near the ocean, a lake or a stream be sure to have a firm grip on your crystals or they might “jump” out of your fingers into the water!

The intensity of the Sun’s rays cleanses crystals and gemstones within just a few hours. Placing crystals and gemstones in the Moon light, especially during a full Moon, removes all lower negative or dirty energies with a soft, yet very powerful energy.

Should you choose to cleanse your crystals or gemstones using sea salt, be advised sea salt may remove more than stored negative energy; the sea salt may also alter a crystals subtle, inner vibration, causing an unwanted frequency re-alignment.

Earth Mother’s healing energy regenerates crystals by re-cycling or transmuting negative energy, restoring your crystals unique vibrational frequency.

Larger Clear quartz or Amethyst quartz clusters have the ability to cleanse and restore balance to smaller crystals and gemstones by absorbing negative energy. I personally place my crystal pendants on larger crystal clusters re-charging them overnight. My clusters are re-charged by the Sun each day and by moonlight each night as it streams in through the windows.

Much Love, Light, Peace and Prosperity,

Meteorite’s blue crystals offer insights into young sun’s chemistry

July 30 (UPI) — Scientists have found minerals old enough to shed light on the composition and behavior of the sun shortly after its birth, 4.6 billion years ago.

The composition of the ancient blue hibonite crystals found inside the remnants of a 4.5 billion-year-old meteorite suggest the sun was spewing a plethora of high-energy particles during its earliest years.

“The sun was very active in its early life — it had more eruptions and gave off a more intense stream of charged particles,” Philipp Heck, a curator at the Field Museum and a professor at the University of Chicago, said in a news release.

Just as the sun was born, the newborn star was surrounded by a thick, swirling circumstellar disk of gas and dust. The disk hosted temperatures upwards of 2,700 degrees Fahrenheit. As the disk cooled, the solar system’s earliest minerals began to form. The hibonite crystals were likely some of the first.

As these early crystals formed, the sun continued to shoot high-energy particles into space. Some of these speeding protons collided with hibonite’s calcium and aluminum atoms, splitting them into smaller neon and helium atoms. These ancient signatures have remained frozen inside the blue crystals for billions of years.

To peer inside the meteorite minerals, scientists used a massive Swiss spectrometer and a precise laser. The laser beam melted a grain of the bright blue crystal, releasing neon and helium atoms, the signatures of which were measured using the spectrometer.

The signatures marked the first time scientists have found evidence of solar activity inside minerals nearly as old as the sun.

“What I think is exciting is that this tells us about conditions in the earliest Solar System, and finally confirms a long-standing suspicion,” said Heck. “If we understand the past better, we’ll gain a better understanding of the physics and chemistry of our natural world.”

Crystal Care: Taking Proper Care Of Your Crystals Is Important!

Are My Gemstones Aware, Sentient and communicative entities?

Although they may seem lifeless but the fact of the matter is that the Gemstones have their own awareness level, in lines of plants and animals.

The vibration rate of these gemstones is very different from ours and thus it might be a little difficult for you to work with them. You need to learn the skill, just like you learn a new language.

You might think that people have a natural talent for gemstone magic receptivity, and it is hard for an average Joe to learn this. But it is not true, as anyone can work with gemstones; they also want to work with you.

Why Should I Care About Gemstones?

Well, gemstones are beautiful; they are like pieces of art created by the mother earth in the moment of utter love and creativity. But they are much more than just beautiful!

Different stones embody different aspects of their creator. And as the creator is the holy Mother Earth, these gemstones have different powers of the earth. They are a step in the ladder to achieve divine awareness.

These gemstones do not discriminate, no matter what you call that creator, they will guide you.

They’ll shed the light on the path towards the ultimate source of energy, intelligence, and creativity. The important thing is that you must believe in the source.

The higher intelligence wants nothing more than just communicating with you, to know you and to be known by you.

I believe that the source created these beautiful gemstones and gave each of them a part of his powers.

Thus when we work with the crystals, we are working with one of the links and manifestations of the Supreme Soul.

These Gemstones are a way for us to decode his secrets. These are our source to access his knowledge.
