Weekly Horoscope ~ Dec 31 to Jan 10

Capricorn Decan 2 ~ Jan 1 to Jan 10 2018. The weekly horoscope runs as an Egyptian week, ie 10 days. It will start as the Sun moves into a new decan and looks at what fixed stars it hits during the decanate week. The star interpretations are written for those born with their Sun on that degree, but the general mood of the day will carry that flavour too.

Your Birthday Fixed Stars

Jan 1/3

Capricorn 12º 23’ ~ Nunki in the vane of the archers hand in Sagittarius 2.1*
Capricorn 13º 38’ ~ Ascella in the left armpit of the archer Sagittarius 2.7

“is an indicator of one who may be expected to be an authoritative orator on Sagittarius and Capricorn topics on business, state or foreign affairs, religion. Interest in long distance travel and in ships and airplanes.” [1] Both Nunki and Ascella are of the nature of Jupiter and Mercury. in particular though gives “good fortune and happiness.” While Nunki brings “truthfulness, optimism and a religious mind.” Those born on this day could make great diplomats as they enjoy meeting people of many cultures. Teachers that go on lecture tours around the world are also found here.

Capricorn 14º 59’ ~ in the archers face in Sagittarius 3.0
Capricorn 14º 37’ ~ Vega in Lyra the harp 0.3

Manubrium is part of the cluster in the Archer’s Face. This one is not so civilised or lucky, but it is brave and “Of the nature of the Sun and Mars. It causes blindness, explosions, fire, flaring heat, heroism, courage, and defiance.” Dr Eric Morse stresses the fiery side also: “To find a major planet in a chart very precisely on Manubrium rather than its neighbours (which are very close in longitude) is likely to show up the more aggressive connotations of the constellation and sign here, we should often find less of the philosopher than the high-performance athlete or the high court judge. The military strategist is also likely to have this star strong.” [2]

“It gives beneficence, ideality, hopefulness, refinement and changeability, and makes its natives grave, sober, outwardly pretentious and usually lascivious.” The Ebertins bring out the artistic side saying “In a good cosmic configuration, Vega is supposed to give artistic talents especially for music and acting, but also a liking for good living. With eccentric artists, this may lead to a debauched life. Tied up with Jupiter or Venus, Vega is said to pave the way to riches and fame. In connection with the Moon…a tendency for occult and mysticism may be given.”[3]

When I studied Vega and Lyra in depth I found they were definitely associated with wealth and a tad of pretentiousness. It fits very well with the aspirational mountain-climbing goat. But tropical Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, so we get a doubling of the planet’s more severe and authoritarian side. It makes a great policeman. “If Rising: Can be trained in duties of court. Avengers of crimes and in charge of public courts and inquires. If Saturn is in any aspect with Vega when rising, the native will pursue this vocation with a fanaticism to the point of utilizing tortures and executions to stamp out what he considers evil.” [4]

Capricorn 16º 15’ ~ Albaldah in the back of the archers head of Sagittarius 3.0
Capricorn 16’ 38’ ~ Rukbat in the horses leg of the archer, Sagittarius 4.1

Stars of Sagittarius in general “soften tigers, rid the lion of his fierceness, speak to the elephant…..it has lordship over beasts. And because it carries a shaft poised on drawn bow, it imparts strength to limb and keenness to the intellect, swiftness of movement, and an indefatigable spirit.”[5] Again this just emphasizes the ability of Capricorn decan 2’s to police and civilize. They make excellent prison warders, firm but fair, with the ability to tame errant criminals who run riot. This is also the super nanny too.

Capricorn 17º 20’ ~ Lambda Aquila in Aquilla the eagle 3.5
Capricorn 17’ 36’ ~ Delta Pavo in the peacock 3.6

Delta Pavo is found in the peacock. The peacock is supposed to be vain, and loves to display itself. Robson says it also gives fame and a long life. Here, similar to Capricorn Decan 3, (where Peacock has a bigger influence) it is about the display of masculine power. Because this decan is ruled by Mars this version of display will be more macho than dandy, demonstrating the subject’s military or physical strength. eg: Roman gladiators or centurions. With the archer in this zone too, the peacock puffing-up of one’s body can be through armor in the sense of musculature too. The natives would be extremely resilient, as if they were coated in Teflon. Nothing sticks to them for very long. ‘Armour’ can also be ownership of chunky cars and chrome-covered motorbikes.

Capricorn 18º 53’ ~ Sheliak in Lyra the harp 3.5

Sheliak is another star in the Lyre, which in early depictions showed a harp nested in the breast of a vulture. Sheliak is found in the vulture’s claws. In nature the scavenger can be cleansing and purifying, but it also deals with the dirty jobs that no one wants to do. It has that vigilante feel to it. These are people who take the law into their own hands, the way that gangsters do. They are doing it for the ‘family’ and protecting their own blood. In their mind it is honorable, never mind that someone else’s guts gets bust in the process. Since this decan is ruled by Mars, then this will bring out the vulture’s bloodlust in the later degrees of this decan. It will also enjoy a bit of torture, either giving or receiving. Punishment and teaching someone a lesson here is strong…

Jan 9/10

Capricorn 19º 41’ ~ Nu Octans in Hadley’s Octans the navigation aid 3.7
Capricorn 19º 51’ ~ Dheneb in Aquilla the eagle 3.0

Nu Octans is little known star in Hadley’s Octan. I include it as it’s quite bright and there are some major stargazers with planets here. It is the only notable star down at the South Pole. An Octans is an earlier version of a sextans which is an instrument to measure the altitude of a star. So this is a navigation aid. Octans derives from the number eight and is the musical octave. The figure 8 also symbolizes eternity. There is something very durable about Capricorn decan 2. It doesn’t date and might represent ancient wisdom. This could be someone who is a battle-scarred old soul, who has been through some tortuous times, but whose experiences can serve as a guide (or a warning) to the less worldly among us.

Lambda Aquilla and in the Eagle Aquilla. In general this constellation is “a law unto himself, and rushes violently wherever his fancy takes him;….Yet, should perchance his aggressiveness be enlisted in a righteous cause, depravity will turn into virtue, and he will succeed in bringing wars to a conclusion and enriching his country with glorious triumphs….the Eagle does not wield, but supplies weapons.” Even though this decan is ruled by mars it suggests these folk are very rarely at the front line. These are generals and officers, and not your average foot soldiers. Dheneb is “Of the nature of Mars and Jupiter. It gives ability to command, liberality, success in war and beneficence.” and gives success in martial arts.
