One article describes the role of the pineal gland in more technical terms here:

The pineal gland is best known for its role in producing the hormone melatonin from serotonin (triggered by the absence of light) and affects wake/sleep patterns and seasonal/circadian rhythms. Like a tiny pea-sized pine cone it is located near the center of the brain, between the two hemispheres  and is a unique brain structure insofar as it is not protected by the blood-brain-barrier. This may also explain why it is uniquely sensitive to calcification via fluoride exposure.

Technically the mammalian pineal gland is neural tissue, and the cells within the pineal gland – the pinealocytes – have characteristics that resemble the photorecetpor cells in the retina.

This has given rise to the opinion that it should be reclassified:

The pineal gland has been a subject of much interest since ancient times. Galen described it in the 3rd century, and the philosopher René Decartes (1596-1650) identified the pineal gland as the “seat of the soul.” His explanation for this conclusion is quite interesting:

Decartes was one of the few philosophers who was experienced in vivisection and anatomy, and who righly pointed out the unique nature of the pineal gland’s location in the brain and blood supply.

The “third eye” is also a well known symbol in Eastern literature, and may be concretely grounded in the anatomical structure and function of the pineal gland.

Calcium Stones In the Brain

Pineal gland calcification is associated with a number of diseases in the medical literature:

  1. Alzheimer Disease
  2. Bipolar Disease
  3. Circadian Dysregulation
  4. Hormone Imbalances: Low Melatonin
  5. Insomnia
  6. Low Back Pain
  7. Parkinson Disease
  8. Schizophrenia
  9. Sleep Disorders
  10. Stroke

Fluoride As A “Therapeutic” Neurotoxin?

Now that it has been established that fluoride (F) exposure contributes to the calcification of the pineal gland, the question remains: what are the subjective affects of these tissue changes to those who undergo them?

Prozac may represent an archetypal example of how fluoride affects the personality/soul. This drug (chemical name fluoxetine) is approximately 30% fluoride by weight and marketed as an “antidepressant,” even while a major side effect of its use and/or withdrawal is suicidal depression.  Modern psychiatry often treats depressive disorders – the “dark night of the soul” – as an organic disorder of the brain, targeting serotonin reuptake by any chemical means necessary. Fluoride and fluoxetine, in fact,  may accomplish their intended “therapeutic effects” by poisoning the pineal gland.  Animal studies confirm that when mice have their pineal glands removed they no longer respond to fluoxetine.  [Source]

Perhaps the primary reason why Prozac causes a favorable reaction in those who are treated (poisoned) with it, is that it disassociates that person from the psychospiritual conflicts that they must normally suppress in order to maintain the appearance of sanity and functionality in society, i.e. it is control and not health that is the goal of such “treatment.

If Prozac and other sources of fluoride in our environment deposits within the pineal gland, accelerating the transformation of functional pineal tissue into calcification, is it possible that it works by dehumanizing and flattening the affect of those who are under its influence?

How Do We Prevent Pineal Gland Calcification?

Eliminating exposure to fluoride is the #1 priority.  We can start by being careful about surreptitious forms of fluoride in Teflon, foods and beverages produced with muncipal water, tap water, infant formula, fluoride containing drugs like Prozac, toothpaste, etc. We have collected a number of studies from the US National Library of Medicine on natural substances which mitigate fluoride toxicity.  We also have a section on our database dedicated to finding substances which prevent or reverse other forms of pathological calcification which may have relevance for pineal gland calcification, such as ectopic calcification. Lastly, there is research on the potential value of magnesium and phytate in reducing pineal gland calcification.

Flouride has a wide range of adverse effects. We have indexed over 60 diseases linked to this ubiquitious toxicant on the GreenMedInfo database. But based on the research presented here one new way of describing it’s adverse effects is as a “calcifier of the soul.”

Study Shows Fluoride Turns The Pineal Gland To Stone

Research shows fluoride turns pineal gland to stone

Research published in 2001 shows that fluoride consumption is associated with the rapid calcification of the pineal gland in the brain.

Eleven corpses were dissected and their pineal glands studied:

“There was a positive correlation between pineal F[luoride] and pineal Ca[lcium] (r = 0.73, p<0.02) but no correlation between pineal F and bone F. By old age, the pineal gland has readily accumulated F and its F/Ca ratio is higher than bone.”

Green Med Info reports: The pineal gland is a small endocrine gland in the vertebrate brain, and is sometimes called the “third eye” as it is a light sensitive, centrally-located organ with cellular features resembling the human retina.

One article describes the role of the pineal gland in more technical terms here:

“The role of the nonvisual photoreception is to synchronise periodic functions of living organisms to the environmental light periods in order to help survival of various species in different biotopes.” [Source]

The pineal gland has been a subject of much interest since ancient times. Galen described it in the 3rd century, and the philosopher René Decartes (1596-1650) identified the pineal gland as the “seat of the soul.” His explanation for this conclusion is quite interesting:

“My view is that this gland is the principal seat of the soul, and the place in which all our thoughts are formed. The reason I believe this is that I cannot find any part of the brain, except this, which is not double. Since we see only one thing with two eyes, and hear only one voice with two ears, and in short have never more than one thought at a time, it must necessarily be the case that the impressions which enter by the two eyes or by the two ears, and so on, unite with each other in some part of the body before being considered by the soul. Now it is impossible to find any such place in the whole head except this gland; moreover it is situated in the most suitable possible place for this purpose, in the middle of all the concavities; and it is supported and surrounded by the little branches of the carotid arteries which bring the spirits into the brain.”[]

Fluoride Literally Turns the Pineal Gland to Stone, Research Suggests

The pineal gland has been known as the ‘seat of soul’ for hundreds of years. Could fluoride, a ubiquitous vector of toxicity in the modern world, actually be calcifying this gland and literally turning it to stone?

The Discovery

What is the Pineal Gland?

Near the center of the brain we find a tiny pine cone-shaped gland which may be one of the most wondrous parts of our physical body. We know that the pineal gland produces serotonin and melatonin, neuro transmitters which regulate waking and sleeping cycles, as well as playing a crucial role in mood.

But it may also be true that the pineal produces DMT or dimethyltryptamine, a neurotransmitter which creates a natural psychedelic state of consciousness. If so, then this little gland plays not only a crucial role in our psychological well-being but it may hold the key for unlocking the true potential of humanity.

David Wilcock:
In this gland there is floating water, a reservoir of water with crystals that actually have piezoelectric properties. There’s also another thing called piezoluminescence. If you have a little lighter and you hit the lighter and then you get that little spark that comes out, that’s from a crystal being compressed and as the crystal is compressed it releases photons.

In your brain you have these little floating crystals that actually have that quality, and even better than that is there is another characteristic called piezochormism.

Piezochroatic crystals are crystals that can release any color of light in the rainbow. Dimethyltryptamine is the main chemical that seems to do this. When DMT is chipped out of a tray that it was synthesized in and you hit it with a screwdriver, bam, you get these big bursts of colored light, big burst of red, big burst of green big, burst of yellow, big burst of blue where you have these little crystals floating in your brain.

Ben Lee:
DMT is this dimethyltryptamine. The theory is that it’s what’s released by the pineal gland that gives us these elevated states of insight.

Graham Hancock:
Maybe DMT is the lens of our pineal gland allowing us to see wider areas of reality than are normally accessible to our senses.

Hira Hosèn:
You remember that image of like a Buddha with the halo? There’s always a halo around the Buddha’s head or Jesus. People see it as a cross behind them in that halo, but it’s the beams of light. It’s exactly what you can learn or remember to activate.

Ancient Traditions

Many ancient esoteric traditions and mystical schools knew of the potential of the pineal. The ancient Greeks believed it to be our connection to the realms of thought. Buddhists know it is a symbol of spiritual awakening. In Hinduism the pineal connects with the third eye chakra, the seat of intuition and clairvoyance.

Jesus proclaimed that, “The eye is the lamp of the body.” So then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. If René Descartes is right and the pineal gland is indeed the seat of the human soul, then these traditions are correct in believing that it serves as the connecting link between the physical and spiritual worlds.

Lauren Cielo:
How did they know about the third eye? Because each chakra connect into an organ. So what fascinates me is the sixth chakra, it plugs into the pineal gland. The pineal gland has photoreceptors on it, and yet they knew that thousands of years ago before they ever knew that there were photoreceptors on the pineal. So that to me, it shows you that we know a lot more in the past than we even do now with our technology.

David Wilcock:
The pineal gland is lined on the inside with tissue called pinealocytes. These pinealocytes are similar to the rods and cones in the retina of your eye. That’s right, it’s the third eye. Your brain has a third eye in the center and it has retinal tissue. It also has the same wiring as your physical eyes do to the visual cortex in your brain. How did they know that all the way back then?

That would imply very advanced technology that would’ve been required for them to gain such incredible information about the brain, and yet they did.

And so, think about what that means. If you have little crystals that can vibrate and release all the colors of the rainbow and people claim when they go out of body, or have a near-death experience that they see a silver cord. There is a cord linking their astral body to their physical body.

Connection to a higher dimension?

Cameron Gray Art

Artwork by Cameron Gray

Indeed, it appears that the pineal gland is our connection to higher dimensions giving us access to the psychic and spiritual realms. If this is true then humanity is upon the precipice of a greater awakening as a whole, but this awakening does not come without its challenges and oppositions.

Mike Adams:
It’s well-known that fluoride interferes with functioning of your endocrine system, the glands. These glands are the gateways to spiritual connection, to energetic layers. I think what’s really going on here is that fluoride shuts the door to spiritual connection.

Scott Steven:
So if you kind of keep the brain locked down, whether it’s fluoride in the water, shutdown the pineal, aluminum to disrupt the nervous system, these artificial sweeteners, then we’re just in a pen.

Ben Lee:
We clearly are not as aware as we could be about potential, and are not living a life that probably is as healing or as generous, or as nurturing as we’re capable of doing.

Mike Adams:
This is why you get so many people today who are somehow convinced, and mainstream science is teaching this, that you are nothing but a biological skin bag, and that you do not have any existence beyond the physical. You have no consciousness. You have no spirit and no free will. When you die you’re dead and gone and that’s permanent. That’s a very dangerous philosophy.

Scott Steven:
We are dealing with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ADHD, all of these neurological diseases. And so, I think there’s a concerted effort to dumb down the population, so that when they figure these things out they’re paralyzed and don’t know what to do, don’t know how to respond, or simply can’t grasp the concept that it is happening, which is the bigger picture.

David Wilcock:
In the Book of Revelation people that have the mark of the beast on the forehead, that’s the closed down pineal gland, the closed down third eye that prevents them from having access to the cosmic nature of who they are, and that will be transformed. That’s a very important part of what’s going on here, spiritual death is transformed into enlightenment and it will happen in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.

Humanity is still awakening

Despite exposure to toxins in our environment and various chemicals in our heavily processed diets, humanity is still awakening. Every day the light of a new eon shines upon us, bringing with it unexpected source of enlightenment.

Jay Weidner:
What people don’t realize is that your consciousness is governed by light, and the pineal gland is the center of consciousness.

Joe Dispenza:
The brain chemistry works in accordance with this, so when you wake up in the morning and the receptors in the back of your eye pick up light, the moment that happens your optic nerve sends a signal to the pineal gland, and the pineal gland starts making serotonin, and serotonin is the daytime neurotransmitter.

Jay Weidner:
This is all brain chemistry, light hits your eyes, hits the pineal gland, changes chemicals inside your brain. Serotonin suddenly erupts in your brain, you get happy, that’s all part of consciousness and it’s all guided by the sun.

James Tyberonn:
The energy of the Earth is higher than it was in 2012, and it will continue to increase. All of the solar storms that are bombarding our Earth has been proven to create psychoactive experience.

Jay Weidner:
And so, the color of light changes your consciousness and if the sun is changing, it is possible that our consciousness is changing.

David Wilcock:
It’s all I believe part of this greater awakening that we’re going through at this time. This pineal gland activation, you could call it that. You could call it the coming golden age. You can call it the energetic shift that we’re going through at this time.

Jay Weidner:
It could be that the changing nature of the sun over the last 20 years is what’s causing the great awakening that’s happening.

James Tyberonn:
I take the same data that the universities have garnered and draw different conclusions, their conclusion may be that an anionic ratio change creates hallucinations, therefore the hallucinations are not real. I take those studies and say that the anionic ratio change open doors within the pineal and allows us to have multidimensional experiences.

Knowing that the pineal gland plays a key role to our spiritual evolution we must undertake the noble effort to make sure our third eye stays open so that we stay connected with the higher realms of being.

James Tyberonn:
There is a misconception I think for many people that the human auric field is automatically managed. It is not, it requires maintenance. There are keys and responsibilities to maintaining our auric field.

Hira Hosèn:
That’s why people that are older are like they lose a bit the joie de vivre. They lose a bit the joy of life. So what you can learn very simply by realizing that all that is in your body, and that you can reconnect to it, is that you will start to create alpha waves, that’s the first step.

Then if you’ve learned how to create these alpha waves then you can realign all the rest of your head, you know, your pineal gland, the pineal chakra, your pituitary chakra. You can realign everything and then actually you can open up your third eye. You can reactivate these beams of light. You will be much more psychic, so telepathic. You’ll receive more. You’ll be much more sensitive.

So in the beginning you get this blast. You’re like, “Whoa,” the world is opening up. But after a while you will just get used to it. It will be normal. So in day-to-day life yes, it’s useful, at the same time it will become normal.

For the first time in history humanity as a whole is being presented with the opportunity to unlock the dormant potential that’s swirling inside each of us. By avoiding toxins, getting sunlight and undertaking various forms of meditation, one may improve the overall performance of this tiny, little gland, and bear witness to the many secrets of the universe. (singing).

This is a transcript of the video below which talks about the Secret of The Pineal Gland.

Schumann Resonance Rife Frequency Pineal Gland Activation Meditation

Royal Raymond Rife (May 16, 1888 – August 5, 1971) was an American inventor, who invented a device he claimed could weaken or destroy pathogens, including cancer, and induce healing, by energetically exciting certain resonant frequencies within the body. The original Rife machine was based on a naval radio frequency oscillator, and this is the basis of the Rife technology that had reportedly successful trials in the 1930’s. Rife technology was revived in the 1980’s, and his research, and that of others interested in the field of energy healing, has been disseminated via the internet.

The pineal gland is the seat of the Third Eye, the Chakra center associated with psychic ability, intuition, and expanded consciousness. This program uses a Rife frequency associated with the Pineal Gland, and uses Isochronic tones going to a level of 7.83 Hz, the Schumann Earth Resonance, which is a deep, Theta healing level of meditation. The Schumann Resonance is the electro-magnetic heart beat of our planet, and a frequency we have evolved, over millions of years, to be in tune with. Progressing the isochronic tones, and your brainwaves, along the Schumann Resonances can have a profoundly calming and balancing effect.

Be sure you use this when you have the time to close your eyes in a dark room, deeply relax, and let the sound healing frequencies go to work, to activate your Third Eye. Just turn off the lights, lay back, close your eyes, and relax. This deep, meditation MP3 can be used with or without headphones.

Shining new light on the pineal gland — ScienceDaily

When zebrafish lack a specific protein, the two hemispheres of the brain develop symmetrically, and the sleep hormone melatonin is not produced. These results were recently published by Freiburg biologists Theresa Schredelseker and Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Driever in the journal Development. Their research on the pineal gland have revealed a genetic connection between left-right asymmetry and day-night cycles.

The pineal gland is a small structure that in humans is located deep within the brain but in zebrafish is found directly under the skull. Its primary function, however, is conserved in fish and humans: the nightly release of melatonin. While the human pineal gland detects daylight via the eyes, the fish pineal gland senses light directly. Using sophisticated genetic tools, the researchers generated zebrafish that can no longer produce the Brain-specific homeobox (Bsx) protein. In fish lacking this protein, photosensitive cells of the pineal gland did not develop normally and failed to produce melatonin. Earlier studies demonstrated that melatonin deficiency in zebrafish disrupts sleep-wake cycles. Thus, the fish showed symptoms similar to what people experience as a result of working night shifts or of excessive night-time smart phone usage.

The lack of Bsx has other intriguing consequences in the brain. On the second day of embryonic development, a small group of cells normally migrates away from the pineal gland and almost always to the left part of the brain. These cells cause the surrounding tissue to develop the characteristics of the left half of the brain. When Bsx is lacking, these cells do not form and the brain develops two ‘right’ halves. Although this study focuses on embryonic development, it also opens up new opportunities for behavioural studies. Recently, for instance, an American research groups found that fish with symmetric brains display behavioural abnormalities that have been interpreted heightened anxiety.

In the last decades, the four-centimetre-long zebrafish has become one of the most popular model organisms for genetic studies. It multiplies and develops rapidly: females lay up to 300 eggs per week, each of which can reach maturity in 12 to 16 weeks. The transparency of the embryos means that cells in the developing embryo can be directly observed even until the early larval stages. As a vertebrate, it possesses many genes that have the same or a similar function in humans.

The research group of Wolfgang Driever investigates signalling processes during zebrafish development within the framework of the Cluster of Excellence BIOSS — Centre for Biological Signalling Studies. The new Bsx-deficient zebrafish line could serve as a model system for future research on defects in pineal gland development and resulting behavioural abnormalities.

5 Signs Your Third Eye Is Opening. #2 Scares People

Since ancient times, the third eye had been revered by all kinds of cultures. Today, we know it as the pineal gland, but it is still called the third eye in the spiritual realm.

The third eye is viewed as a spiritual sign representing our capability to conquer all kinds of challenges in daily life by tapping into our inner wisdom.

But there is much more to the third eye than that.

In most Eastern traditions, the third eye is undoubtedly real; a thing that anybody can perceive and obviously feel if they have a strong sense of self and mindfulness.

It is what is often referred to as the connection between our body and our spirit.

When we meditate with any consistency, the third eye opens and your inner guide becomes stronger and a more present guiding force in your life.

Here are five signs your third eye is opening:

1. A dull sensation of pressure between the eyebrows

Generally when the third eye starts to manifest on a much deeper level, there’s a related consciousness of sensation between eyebrows.

It could seem like somebody is lightly touching us at that moment, or you might feel a spreading of warmth.

Sometimes this sensation could appear from nowhere; whether we have spiritual feelings or not.

It’s as if it’s a signal to pull us back in that spiritual state of mind.

2. Increased foresight

Among the most obvious signals of third eye opening is an increase in foresight or intuition we start to experience – if we are paying attention.

Intuition is the capability to know something might happen before it does or knowing something is right or wrong because of a feeling or sense.

It often comes and goes without notification. However with time, this feeling could get stronger, and turn out to be a guiding process in our daily lives.

We might start to sense warning signs or what our next action should be without explanation.

Don’t dispute your intuition. Use it! It might not always be right; however it most certainly will put us on the right path.

3. Prone to light sensitivity

With the opening third eye, we could find ourselves a little more sensitive to light and seeing colors more brightly.

Vivid colors and our awareness of light may begin subtly; they are not always instantly obvious or overwhelming.

However, the sensitivity to light often brings further awareness of what is happening around us. When focusing deeply on the third eye (like in meditation), the lights of the third eye might appear.

The third eye and it’s reference to light has been talked about for years in many traditions worldwide.

It is well-known in many forms of art and religious works.

If you study the works, you can often see the light reference in circular shapes and star-shaped lights peeking through the clouds.

Our eyes will change over time, and we might feel like we just can’t get enough sun on our skin. This is normal.

Soak it up! Just make sure you are not harming the skin.

4. A feeling of gradual and continual change

Most importantly, fostering a healthy third eye steadily changes our perspective and personality in life.

It results in beneficial changes because we want, and maybe even crave them. We can usually see it in the way we treat others. We might become more tolerant and less selfish.

5. Increased headaches

A headache pressure is stronger than the pressure talked about earlier that happens between the eyebrows.

At times, that pressure can begin to ache a little. Consider it a little bit of energy overload. Go outdoors and do a thing you cherish, like meditate or walk.

Head pressure is an actual sign of the spiritual eye opening, particularly in the center of the forehead.

It is an indication that one’s pineal gland is developing energetically.

Tips to Engage the Third Eye

When our Third Eye is opening, we’ll begin body-to-soul discussions in our mind with an understanding of our place in the Universe and that we are the creator of our reality!

We will encounter greater states of mindfulness, enabling us to visualize a better life and take focused action to help us live up to our potential.

We’ll become very intuitive, possess a good memory, and we’ll have the ability to understand without any problem.

We can help foster a strong sense of intuition by activating our third eye. Start by doing these things:

  • Meditate.
  • Stay away from sugar and dairy as much as possible.
  • Meditate outside, naturally, sitting on the grass or natural ground.
  • Be mindful of our senses.
  • Drink more water.
  • Walk in nature for not less than half an hour every day.
  • Display and wear indigo and purple.
  • Let go of limiting beliefs.
  • Do aesthetic activities: Make visual art, drawing, coloring, working with memory, photography, hypnosis, and even some daydreaming

How to Open Your Third Eye

Preface: I had initially rewritten this to be included on the Wim Hoff Method Blog. But, it went unposted. Rather than see the work lost I am sharing it with you. In addition to being easier to read than the last version I’ve added an illustrated how to poster.

What is meant by ‘opening your third eye’? It is a meditation technique that refers to becoming more self aware and in tune with your surroundings. Results may be different for everyone. Some experience heightened awareness, more creativity, or a sense of calm and confidence. When performed consistently, your intuition will improve and you will become more aware.

I first tried this technique when I was a young boy. My mother and I were at a swap meet. It was there, after much pestering, that she bought me that book on Native American Shamanism. I wanted the book because my best friend was telling me about his great spiritual powers and how he was going to get a power animal. Since young boys can be quite competitive, I felt I also needed to do what my friend was doing. When we left the swap meet, I began reading the book in the car. One of the first meditation exercises I stumbled upon was contacting the ancient spirits for help. I decided this would be a good exercise to start with before I tried to find my power animal.

This is what I remember of the exercise.

“Breathe in through the nose for a slow count of 3. Hold for a count of 3. Then exhale for a count of three. Do this slowly and rhythmically. Focus on the point between your eyes above your nose on your forehead. Roll the eyes up behind closed eyelids. This may take 10-20 minutes before you can contact the spirits. As you breathe in and out, you will see different colors starting at yellow then shifting to purple. When you see purple you may, most respectfully speak with your spirit guides.”

When that evening finally approached, I found a quiet spot in the house and laid down on the ground in a darkened room. I breathed in and out. I became more and more relaxed. I saw flashes of yellow and purple. Then I asked to speak to my grandmother’s and grandfather’s spirits, the ancients, and the enlightened. Then, it happened! I heard a voice, as clear as day in my mind, and I freaked out. I did not know it then, but this was the day that would define the rest of my life.

It was not until years later that I tried meditation again, and it would be longer still when I tried, what I now know as, the third eye meditation. Almost like clockwork, years passed by again and it is only now that I realized the importance of opening my third eye.

Was I contacting ancient spirits when I was a child? Maybe, but more likely, I had gotten in touch with my higher consciousness. This higher consciousness is in us all. It is what makes us human and allows us to do amazing things.

There are many exercises and meditation techniques for opening your third eye. The easiest technique is to sit upright in a comfortable chair. Place your arms at your sides and hands on your lap. Breathe in through your nose to a count of 10, hold for 10, then exhale for 10. The longer you can do this the better, but the key is in the consistent rhythmic breathing. In through the nose, out through the mouth. When you do this, focus on the point between your forehead. You do not need to literally turn your eyes to your forehead, you need only to focus on the point in the middle of your forehead while you breathe in and out. Around the eight to tenth breath, you will start to see the yellow color spiral in your mind. As you continue breathing, the color will change to purple and then to flashing colors.

When this happens, when you finally see that vibrating purple color, it means you have opened your third eye. This ‘opening’ means different things for different people. For me, it has allowed more creativity and focus.

If you don’t see swirling colors, or you can’t hold your breath for 10 seconds, don’t worry. Just keep trying and do what you are comfortable with. One of my students would complain of constant headaches, but he persisted. Only when he persisted did he realize that his headaches were because he was staring at his nose cross-eyed.

The more meditation you do, the more understanding and control you will have over the effects of your newfound awareness. Many people think that the benefit of meditation is only during the actual meditation, but it is quite the contrary. The benefit comes a short time after the meditation. The more consistent you are in your meditation, the more aware of the benefits you become. You realize that, perhaps, you aren’t lucky, but there is someone/something guiding you. You see patterns where there would be random chances. This is just the start to an improved and a better you.

Meditation to Awaken Third Eye Wisdom – Touched By Guru’s Grace

The Third Eye point between the brows is a place where we focus the two physical eyes. For those who have been practicing yoga for a while, you have learned to activate this place in the body by focusing on it. We are often taught that when we close our eyes, we should focus the eyeballs between the brows. Some practices even have us visualize the breath coming and going through the Third Eye point. This is a good practice for those who are new to yoga or who have been practicing for a short time.

But when the seeker is ready to journey deeper, it is important to remember that the Third Eye is not a physical point in the body. The Third Eye, once opened, gives capacity to perceive with clarity beyond the physical existence. There is no physical Third Eye. There is energy and perception. There is a spiritual Third Eye. Agia – Third Eye wisdom — dwells in a subtle dimension beyond the physical dimensions. When the three forms of Shiva energy — the Dance of life, absolute Stillness, and Balance of polarities — move into this point and fuse into one dot, (this dot is known as the Primal Bindhu), your experience of life will change forever.

One way to move beyond the preliminary stages with determination is to train yourself to sit with your eyes closed for hours at a time and contemplate moving energy into your Third Eye point. Observe what happens.

However, most of us cannot afford to sit with our eyes closed for hours on end, so fortunately there are meditations we can practice each day that can derive similar results in a few minutes as if we have sat for hours:

This powerful meditation with the mantra Wah Hey Gu Ru will awaken the expanded dimensions of the Third Eye, initiate Third Eye sensitivity and its capacity to reach ever further beyond the physical, mental, and energetic realm.

Floating Lotus Meditation

First, tune in with the mantra Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo. Chant this tune in mantra three times. Be aware of the mantra vibrating the forehead, the skull, and the whole brain.

This is a meditation that you can practice every day. This meditation will bring your heart and Third Eye into balance. The mantra will vibrate into your being and give you an experience of the wisdom of ecstasy in the here and now. Practice this meditation with determination and devotion, and life will not take a toll on you.

Mudra

The hands are an extension of the heart. You will create a hand position in which the hands look like they form a lotus flower. Bring the base of the right and left palm to touch. The two thumbs line up and touch. The two pinkies line up and touch. The other fingers remain open and pointing toward the sky. The palms together form the center of the flower and the fingers extended form flower petals. Raise this lotus mudra up to hold it in front of the Third Eye Point. This means that you have the extension of the heart floating steadily in front of the Third Eye Point.

Another name for the Third Eye Point is the Cave of Shiva. This mudra is a beautiful expression, an offering of your heart – as a fragrant flower – floating at the doorway of the Cave of Shiva. Offer your full, fragrant, and open heart to the seat of your intuition.

Chant the Mantra

Inhale deeply.
Chant and prolong this sacred sound  for the duration of the exhaled breath:

Waaaaaaaaaaaaah

Inhale deeply.
Chant and prolong this sacred sound for the duration of the exhaled breath:

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

Inhale deeply.
Chant and prolong this sacred sound for the duration of the exhaled breath:

Guuuuuuuuuuuu

Inhale deeply.
Chant and prolong this sacred sound for the duration of the exhaled breath:

Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Continue chanting this way over and over until you sense any kind of shift within your inner being. The whole body must vibrate the mantra.

This mantra will balance the elements in the body: earth, air, fire, water, ether. These elements will come into balance. Meanwhile, the mudra ushers the energy of the heart up to the energy of the Third Eye point. Now, devotion and wisdom can come into perfect balance.

Practice this meditation at least three minutes every day, or practice for as long as is comfortable.

Close the meditation with a deep inhale, stretch the arms way up over the head, stretch the hands and stretch the spine. Exhale. Again, inhale, hold and stretch. Exhale. One last time, inhale hold and stretch. Then shake the body and tap the body with hands or fists all the way up and down.

To close the practice, bring the hands in prayer mudra at the heart center. Chant the mantra Saaaaaaaaaat Nam three times. Dedicate the benefits of this practice to all beings everywhere. Bow your head and be in reverence.

The Third Eye And 5 Lesser-Known Truths About It

by Conscious Reminder

The concept of a ‘third eye’ is quite popular in areas of spiritual health. They say that divine Enlightenment opens up the ‘eye’ of knowledge and intuition.

As per mythology, and the scriptures, it is located in the central point of our forehead, helping us harness the energies of nature and human life.

While we have heard ample statements regarding its mystic existence, here are five authentic facts you should be aware of:

1. You Aren’t Specially Blessed With it.

Homo sapiens have a tendency of considering themselves to be much superior to any race or kind, but the one they belong to. Most of us have never considered that the fields of spirituality and Enlightenment might not be strictly restricted to the human world.

According to research, most mammals are gifted with this mystic power. In Pixar’s Coco, they depicted animals as spirit guides. Disney can never be wrong, can they?

2. The Eye Is Physically Present.

It isn’t a wild concept that the world has been feeding us for generations. While it is obviously not as prominent or well-formed as the other two eyes, the tissues associated with it exist in our bodies.

The blueprint of our eyeballs is quite similar to the third one we cannot see. Anatomy is testament to the fact that this is not a myth.

3. The Eye Is Ticking.

Have you ever heard of the body clock? It is the regular pattern of waking and sleeping that your body follows. This is why you feel groggy is you go to bed way past your usual bed-time, or wake up too early.

The third eye is responsible for the chemical reactions and signals that keep this clock in order. Before we became slaves to our corporate and academic commitments, the third eye would align our body-cycle with that of the sun.

It was a healthy approach. By gradually losing ourselves to erratic sleep cycles, insomnia, and unhealthy habits, we are becoming the breeding ground for deadly illnesses.

4. It Can Give You A Good Trip.

A laboratory literally used rats to find this fact for you. If you have ever been acquainted with Depression, you know the value of serotonin- the happiness hormone. Your brain secretes it, absorbs it, and then secretes it again.

For clinically depressed patients, the brain releases less serotonin the second time, causing the literal lack of happiness. It has been discovered that the pineal gland (third eye) has Dimethyltryptamine, which works like the happiness hormone.

It can also induce hallucinations if triggered by substance abuse.

5. Films Are Obsessed With It.

As soon as humanity is introduced to a concept they don’t quite understand, they make supernatural movies out of it. So, a lot of screen-goddesses and supervillains have a literal third eye painted on them. The CGI is hyper-dramatic, and hilariously inappropriate.

The truth is that nobody knows the extent of its powers, yet. Is it destructive? Is it going to bring us world peace, someday? Do we have to do something to activate it?

None of us really know or have the time to find out. Until NASA broadcasts the answer to us, let’s revel in some quality but inaccurate television.
